Did weight affect your IVF outcome?

Had two failed rounds of IVF with very poor response to both stimms and trigger, only 1 egg that didnt fertilise with ICSI as hubbys sperm cpunt was low. I cant help but think why this has happened as we were eating the best diet for the last 6 months, lost significant weight to bring the BMI down to 29, no caffiene, expensive supplements, lots of good fats and protein. So not quite sure what went wrong.

I can't help but think that the weight was a factor and I should have lowered it even more.

So putting the question out there, for those that had multiple rounds of IVF, was weight a factor?

I lost some weight before IVF through a fertility friendly diet that sounds very similar to yours (and exercise but I always exercise), did the supplements, no coffee or alcohol etc but my BMI was still quite a bit higher than yours and I had a really good response to the meds and have a high number of top grade embryos in the freezer (I know grades aren't everything but just illustrating the point since you asked). I am sure a lot of that was luck as the first round can be a bit of a guessing game with regards to the medication and response. There will be statistics around weight and results but those are just that, statistics, and can't take individual people and their bodies into account. It's not (anywhere near) as black and white as 'one BMI point lower equals one extra egg, 5 points lower equals one extra embryo' or anything like that, and even those that are the same weight all the time can have very very different results each cycle, so if I were you I wouldn't focus on/worry about/beat yourself up about weight, you've done amazingly preparing yourself as much as possible and the rest is out of your hands. ❤️

Thank you so much. It just feels so unfair after all the preparation, to have the unfortunate results.. its tough.

But thank you for the kind words. And happy you had a good response, may I ask what was your protocol and meds?

Hi, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Did your doctor mention any possible reasons why the cycle was unsuccessful? Unfortunately, this can happen, and statistically the first IVF cycle often has lower success rates than the second and third attempts.
I would recommend starting with a discussion with your doctor to understand what may have contributed to the outcome and whether there is anything you can do to improve your chances next time. In some cases, factors such as stress or even low vitamin D levels may play a role.
On MyIVFAsnwers they get webinars on ways to improve chances of success, and you may find their recorded sessions helpful. But, I would personally begin by speaking with a doctor. Wishing you the very best on your journey.

It's so unfair!!!! Hang in there! ❤️
I'm on holiday at the moment but I'll have a look. I am sure I was on 300 Gonal F, I'd need to check the others, standard dose trigger shot I believe.
