This might be a long shot, but I guess it’s worth giving it a try.

So bit of a background story; I have been trying to conceive since February 2023. I had absolutely no luck, Just negative test after negative test then in July 2025 I managed to conceive. Unfortunately though this did end as an early loss at 5w6d. I then managed to conceive 3 times after this but all were chemical pregnancies.

Obviously knowing something was wrong I had a blood test and found out my IgG antibodies were positive (38) and my repeat blood test were 29.9; Clearly meeting the criteria for APS.

I was just wondering if there is any females on here who are diagnosed with APS and have had losses how long did it take you to conceive after starting blood thinners? And was it just baby aspirin until a BPF or was you taking heparin / lovenox alongside with baby aspirin until a few weeks postpartum?

Thank you!

Hey,

Sorry about your losses. I was diagnosed with APS in January whilst I was 5 week pregnant and started on 75mg aspirin and heparin. Unfortunately it didn’t work out and I had a mmc at 10 weeks. This is the furthest I’d got since ttc for 2 years though having had a pul and a chemical.
Hope it works out for you soon.

I am so sorry for your loss:( have you had any other blood tests to see if you have any other possible issues? I hope you get your rainbow baby really soon! Are you with a miscarriage clinic or anything? X

I was referred to my local hospital for recurrent miscarriage assessment which is where I found out about having APS. I do have a little girl who is 5 who we are so so lucky to have. I had a mc before her and she was born at 30 weeks. I had cytogenetic testing with my last loss which came back with no issues. They also told me in this letter that it was a girl which is just heartbreaking (not because I’d be less upset if it was a boy obviously, it just makes it so much more real and finding out weeks after the loss just brings it all back) I wasn’t prepared for that perhaps naively. The hospital said there isn’t anything else they can do and that this medication works in most cases so they’ve referred me to a different hospital which has a more specialised recurrent miscarriage unit. Someone told me on here about hydroxychloroquine (I think that’s right) being used in cases where it doesn’t work. I’m also pretty certain I have low progesterone. Also I was advised not to take aspirin until a positive test but as soon as I tried taking it from ovulation I fell pregnant.

Sorry that was a bit of a me me me rant! Have you any other testing done?

No please feel free to rant about yourself and your trauma all you like! It’s such a hard situation to be in, and it definitely feels so lonely. Even if we do have extremely supportive partners, nothing can take that pain away. I am genuinely so sorry that you had to go through that :(

The reason I was asking if you had other blood tests done is because Not only do I suffer with APS as of a recent diagnosis but I also have graves disease (over active thyroid) and I had a scan done in January to also find I’ve got a partial septate uterus and my left ovary has over 20 immature follicles -luckily my right side is completely fine) but It’s just one thing after another.

my last loss was in the middle of November last year, I let my period come back thinking that would help but it actually made everything worse because I wasn’t ovulating at all until about 2 months ago and I’m back to square one of not being able to conceive at all, my appointment with a recurrent miscarriage Clinic isn’t until the end of June and I have no idea what to expect. I know they’ll run blood tests but I get them every month, they’ll offer a scan to check my uterus when I already know what the results will be I just feel like I need more, that might sound selfish but I have my answers. Now I just want results that’ll end in a healthy pregnancy

I can see why it feels like it’s one thing after another. They found some issues with my liver and kidneys last year which wouldn’t have been found if I wasn’t having various scans to work out what was going on!

Yeah that’s frustrating. Between each of the pregnancies I’ve had over the last two years it’s taken a good few months to conceive again. I’m just concerned I thought we’d cracked it with the blood thinners and I had a bit of spotting so got progesterone from 6 weeks. I’m not sure I can face trying again without a plan in place but I’m also concerned I’m running out of time heading towards 40!

Whereabouts are you based? I think it depends where you are referred to. The hospital I’ve been at I didn’t see a consultant, it all came though a clinical nurse specialist, and they just bloods and swabs for infection. They said they didn’t need a scan as I’d only been in a few weeks back for a scan. I think the hospital I’m being referred to is much more thorough and checks for low progesterone and NK cells.

Hopefully you’ll get a plan in place soon!x

Oh bless you, that sound horrible! Perhaps once you do conceive again they can give you progesterone from the very start? I have a feeling my progesterone is a little on the lower side as mine was only 17.9 nmol when I was 6/7DPO? I haven’t really looked too deep into that as of right now considering I have bigger things to worry about..

Im from UK, outside north London, what about yourself? & they basically did the same to me, when I was going through my first loss at basically 6 weeks I went to A&E where they told me to go to a tiny clinic that deals with losses, complications and abortions. They told me they wasn’t going to do a scan even after I asked so many times but instead gave me a swab to check for infections or any STIs? They took my blood to check what my hcg levels were and told me to come back in 2 days to make sure it was dropping fast enough.. my heart was completely broken because all I wanted to do was get that scan and see my tiny dot before I passed it, which unfortunately I did the very next day.

After your first loss with the APS diagnosis did they not tell you to take baby aspirin until a positive then do the injections then??

But thank you for taking time out of your day to chat with me about this! I’ll definitely keep you updated if anything happens and I expect the same from you too! I’ll be waiting for our random reply either a month or a year from now to announce our healthy 12 week baby or full term miracle! <3

I’m in Leeds. Yeah I had the same with the hcg monitoring last year. It just hugely drags it out! The last loss I had in March was the only one I’ve had to have medical intervention for thankfully and I think that was mostly because I wanted the genetic testing. That one was my only pregnancy since finding out about APS and they just said they’re following national guidelines and there’s nothing more they can do other than referring me to a different nhs hospital. I’m still quite positive that this referral might result in a different plan that will work out.

Ditto! It’s just heartbreaking x
