Hello,

I am massivley thinking ahead but I currently have a 1 month old who I am ebf and I am thinking about the potential of doing another egg collection for a hopeful sibling because we dont have an embryos left. We wouldnt be doing any transfer for a few years but due to age would like to do the actual egg collection sooner rather than later potentially later on in the year.

But my question is a) how long after birth can you do an egg collection
B) can you be breastfeeding whilst taking the stim medication

@Timetotryagain congratulations on your little one!
My clinic told me we could go ahead 9 months after a vaginal delivery and 12 months after a c section. They did want me to stop breastfeeding before having stims but I've heard that some clinics will do this differently and can support you to still breastfeed. But I'm not sure. I guess you want enough time for your body to recover and your hormones to settle before going again.
My little one is 8 months now and we're hoping to go again soon, to be able to bank some embryos

@Magix86 thank you for your reply! Congratulations to you too, thats exciting (and nerve wracking) that you are getting ready to do another round 💓

I had a csection and will probably be done breastfeeding at 12 months anyway if thats the recommended time for another ivf cycle after a csection so shouldn't be an issue :)

Best of luck to you!!

@Timetotryagain thank you 🙂
Just also bear in mind the time it takes to get everything going with the clinic. Things like booking a consultation, confirming treatment plan, having bloods, scans etc. And then depending on your cycle start day. It could take a couple of months to get to the starting point if you see what I mean. Best of luck!

@Timetotryagainmy clinic advised me that I could do stills at 6 months once everything had settled back with period etc but I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed. We have one embryo left and I am considering maybe another round (due to age) but have to get my other half on board. Ps hope you’re enjoying the newborn bubble and not too sleep deprived x
