Tips for making Lubion injections less painful during FET

I’ve had my first Lubion injection this morning for my first FET. My partner did the injection same as he did all my others during stims but this time it was really quite painful and has been sore all day. When I googled it, apparently it can be common and pain can last up to a couple weeks.

how do you repeatedly inject even when alternating sides if this is the pain? I wonder if there are any tips or tricks to make it less painful?

I wanted to avoid thighs if possible as have a family staycation coming up with family members who aren’t aware and will be swimming etc so didn’t want to be covered in bruises in visible places.

any tips greatfully received. Best case scenario is up to 14 weeks of these - worst case two weeks but either way I really need it to be more manageable if possible.

the nurses didn’t warn about this- just said they will be just like last time in terms of injection site. Wondering if the injection wasn’t done 100% right?

hello! I am also on Lubion and have the same issue. I started them a few days ago and I am alternating sides but it’s no better. It’s not that there are bruises but it’s the pain when I bend or change sides. But definitely it got better since day 1. I also googled it like yourself. I don’t have any tips but can’t wait to hear tips in this thread

@MarG88 hello - yes, I’m the same, it’s more noticeable when bending or sitting. Sorry to hear it’s still happening after a few days. Mine isn’t a bruise (yet) either - just red. Are you doing them yourself? Makes me think maybe it was done right, it’s just a more painful one. I’ll do more digging and see what else I can find too.

@TTCbaby2xox I used to put a cold pack on my abdomen for a minute before the injection and a minute after. I still found them sore and they did bruise, but not as much.

I was on them for 12 weeks . I was surprised at how sore they were at first it was having a big bruise or something so I know what you mean. I found injecting extremely slowly helps . I did find that I got used to the soreness after a while and it didn’t bother me as much. I did find as well that it can leave little lumps and sometimes if you inject into one of these lumps it can leak a lot so just be careful . That happened to me a few times and I remember worrying so much about it leaking but it all worked out ok in the end. I did inject into the thigh a few times when my stomach was sore but I found the thigh a worse place in inject it in general. Best of luck with everything

Hi, I’ve done 3 FETs all with lubion twice a day so I feel your pain BUT for me always the first week was the worst. Plus a game changer for me was buying a microwave bean bag from amazon which I heated up before injecting and then immediate applied to the area and massaged the skin with it after the injection to disperse the liquid quickly. This was a tip one of the nurses gave me as it is apparently a thick liquid that otherwise doesn’t disperse as much and that causes soreness the next day. This doesn’t solve it but definitely took the edge off so the next day was much less sore. Good luck!

Thanks all. Some great tips.
so far I’ve resorted to icing the area first and warming the injection up. However from the pre filled syringe I’ve found if holding it liquid facing down, warming it up in hands can cause it to leak out a bit when the cap comes off.
I will try this as well as the microwave bag for afters.
