Would you recommend? I’ve seen a lot on social media but the google reviews are mixed.

we wanted to test DNA frag. Worried about wasting money, but desperate for answers!
Hoping someone has some real life experience

I did research this as a back up plan if my cycle didn’t work. From reading up on it, it would be more in-depth testing for you and your partner so it would be much more than a dna fragmentation test - do you know the cause of your infertility? If not, the £1300 might be worth doing to explore everything but if the sperm is the issue, you could do a test with a company like examen x

Thanks for replying ☺️
they offer a standalone DNA fragment test that is quite reasonably priced. We’ve had recurrent early loss so working our way through possible causes and already has some tests done for me, so wanted to look at this next. I’ve seen the bigger packages they offer that we might try at some point but it’s all quite costly so going step by step. I’ll have a look at Examen as hadn’t heard of that before x

@confused2025 thank you for sharing, would you say it’s worth getting the tests and treatment done before doing an ivf cycle (they say on their page it can help implantation)
or is it better to go for 1 round of ivf before ?

confused2025 · 10/03/2026 18:44

@Thehopefulmemberi think it might depend on circumstances and how long TTC. It does see to go under the hood for both partners and they screen for things UK clinics don’t. They seem to help folks conceive naturally after treatment and so many couples see to have issues where the sperm and egg are incompatible. I was lucky that the first FET worked from my second cycle (and at this stage I was only understanding the immunology/microbiome side of things). If it hadn’t I would have proceeded with them. I think for anyone about to embark on IVF, if they can afford to do this, they should. It’s such a tough process x

@confused2025
Thank you
you’re right it’s so so tough the process and everything that goes with it, that’s why these forums are so helpful to understand from first hand experiences and just have someone to speak to who understands and been through the same or similar situations. I’m grateful I found this forum.
I have pcos so I think for me that’s one of the key issues, we’ve been trying for nearly 2 years now.
With fertilysis I was considering it before my cycle but when I realised the cost It’s more than what I had initially thought it would be so I was thinking maybe to try one round before as you did.

Thats such positive news so happy for you that it worked with your first fet 😊
What clinic did you go with if you don’t mind me asking?
also when you say your first fet worked from your second cycle, does that mean your second ivf cycle? So you had 2 separate cycles (not batch cycles) and the second time it worked ?
I’m sorry I’m new to the terminology trying to figure out if batch testing is better or separate cycles

@Thehopefulmemberyes, this is very useful and there may be a Facebook group for your area too that can be useful. I had two rounds - I’m based in Northern Ireland where we only get one NHS round and the clinic that offers this has really poor success rates for 38 plus - I got 9 eggs - 6 fertilised and only one made it to blast (most deteriorated after day 3 so I think it may have been a sperm issue plus my age). This ended in chemical and then with nothing left frozen I looked at clinics. I was looking at clinics in Spain and Prague but we said we would try somewhere near first. We went with a clinic in Dublin - the have a satellite in Belfast and London - Therapie Fertility. They had good success rates + economically it was a good price compared to local clinics with low success rates. We had a great experience with them. I got 12 eggs and 2 embryos - the first transfer worked so well have one frozen so hopefully that will work for a sibling round.
no, it wasn’t duo stim but this can be really good esp for those late 30s + so that they can bank and then do PG Testing.

looking back I think things that helped me were a vaginal pro biotic, acupuncture (started a couple of weeks before cycle), cutting out caffeine and alcohol completely and taking a lot of antioxidants in diet. I also got really selective about beauty and cleaning products I used - I found the Yuka and little bean app useful . It is such a gruelling process and one that doesn’t guarantee success which is the tough part so I feel incredibly lucky. Here if you have any other questions x
