Mini Fridge for IVF injections

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about a mini fridge that was good for IVF injections please?

We’re staying at my mum’s (mid house move) and the main fridge isn’t always a consistent temperature so for peace of mind I’d rather have a mini fridge just for injections.

Thanks

I looked into this as we were in temporary accommodation with a crappy fridge. I came to the conclusion that to get an actually good consistent mini fridge (that doesn’t freeze at the back panel) was very pricey or needed to be a specific medications fridge. I was researching already in treatment though and had thrown away two ovutrelle as they can reached sub zero so was in panic mode! Sounds like you’re more organised so maybe you’ll find the right thing. But the following was my solution:

two reassuring things—medications that come in powder form are actually very stable, and can withstand a fairly high fluctuation of temps. Freezing is always worse than getting too warm. Many meds don’t even need refrigeration if they’re to be used in around 28 days (obvs look all this up for your specific meds).

after a lot of reading info sheets and contacting the manufacturers etc (plus looking at forums—people going through gender transition have the same issue and I found this on a forum there, and it was recommended as a solution by a nurse) I used a good quality thermal bag, put a bottle of water with the meds and an electronic fridge temp recorder in the bag (records highs and lows). The bottle of water helps to regulate fluctuations inside the bag. I had no further issues with reaching below freezing.

perhaps before beginning (if you don’t choose a high quality fridge in the end), get that set up and record the highs and lows inside the bag, then you’ll know how stable the fridge is.

good luck!

I had a medication pouch for a trip to see a friend.
it was about £8 off Amazon, you just need a freezer to rotate the ice packs.
They are marketed for diabetes so I searched insulin packs.

however the refrigerated medicines when they came actually ended up saying on them keep at fridge temp OR at room temp?!?! Which I hadn’t realised.
I used the pack and kept them cold but might be worth checking with the clinic.
or get the insulin pouch
