Any experiences of hysteroscopy abroad?

I'm already convinced my third FET has failed 😭 So trying to make an action plan.

It's 5k in the UK and I can't afford that/can't justify it when it's not conclusive if my fibroid is a problem.
NHS wait is 62 weeks 😭
I've heard fertility treatment abroad is a lot cheaper and it appears Reprofit price is less than 1k.

Any experiences welcome (plus quotes in the UK for less than 5k also welcome but it's operative I need and a general anaesthetic)

What do you actually mean by hysteroscopy? Hysteroscopic resection? If so, it doesn't cost 5k. About half that.

A hysteroscopy where they put the camera in and shave down a submucousal fibroid.
That's the quote I had from the Spire in Manchester 🤷🏻‍♀️ Happy to look elsewhere though if you know of somewhere cheaper?

I looked at reprofit also. And Ginemed. They suggested accomodation right next to clinic and as you say, the operative hysteroscopy was a lot cheaper than private in UK. I also liked that they used intravenous sedation rather than full anaesthesia if wanted. Unlike UK that offered basically no pain relief unless GA. What put me off was I'd have had to go alone and i was worried I might be too unwell after and need help. Also, that cheaper price didn't include checking my polyp for cancerous changes so no further analysis which NHS do automatically. In any event, after thinking I'd wait a year, I got fast tracked and was all done in a fortnight. I'd still go for it if I'd had to wait a year but I'd check about analysis of cells after and factor in staying a couple of night for 2.

Thank you that's very helpful. I'm pretty sure there are no concerns about my fibroid being cancerous. It's just potentially changing the shape of my cavity.
I'm glad you managed to get fast tracked in the end!

In your shoes I'd be heading to Prague then! Or Lisbon. I've generally found treatment to be fantastic in Europe - they don't seem to expect women to endure painful procedures with just ibuprofen!

Thank you that's reassuring. I was nervous at the idea of going away for it but I have in general heard good things about Prague/Greece.
Seriously cannot afford the UK prices

I really hope your FET is successful this time but I know the feeling of needing to know what your next steps are in case.

On the hysteroscopy, we were told we’d have a 3-4 month wait on the NHS but ended up getting an appointment for 3 weeks after the referral went through. A similar thing happened to a friend waiting for a laparoscopy. I know this isn’t most people’s experience but wanted to share that sometimes the wait isn't as bad as they say- I assume we got our appointment due to a cancellation but it’s worth finding out if you can get on a cancellation list or similar while you’re deciding.

Hi, a friend of mine underwent IVF treatment in the Czech Republic and was very happy with the clinic. If you’d like to compare costs, the IVF price calculator on fertilityclinicsabroad is quite accurate. For more in-depth reviews of European clinics, I personally like the YT channel Behind IVF Doors. It has very detailed videos. Hope this helps a little.
