Ovulation induction with letrozole - success stories?

Hi everyone, just entering my 4th round with OI using letrozole and ovitrelle trigger shot and feeling a bit despondent. Just wondering if anyone had some success stories they would be happy to share of this and I'm really starting to feel like it's not going to work.

For background I'm 35, and have a fairly low AMH of 5.1. My fertility Dr did say my best chance would be IVF, but as everything else looks good she was happy for me to try OI first. Really hoping for success as would struggle to afford IVF xx

Did 4 rounds of medicated IUI (letrozole and ovitrelle) with donor sperm in my early 30s with normal AMH. Never had any success and moved to IVF. After 2 egg collections, 1 failed transfer and 1 CP finally got pregnant. Personally I’d say after 4 rounds you’ve given it a decent try and time to move on

Thank you! I'm currently on my third day of taking letrozole for this cycle, so will do this one and then discuss options with my doctor.

Sorry it took so much for you to get pregnant, though I'm sure it felt worth it in the end 💜

Hello, I’m not as far ahead in the process as you but I’m 35. We’ve been trying for a year with no success. I’ve just had a referral made to the fertility clinic (NHS) I imagine they’d want to try letrozole or clomi first but I’m not sure? Is that usually first step? I really think IVF is our best chance.

I think it would be down to your diagnosis, like if they think it's just an ovulation issue then they may want to try that first as OI is less invasive. However, definitely worth talking it through when you have your first appointment, and what your best chance of success is 💜

I'm going private for treatment as I already have 3 year old DD so don't qualify for NHS funding. IVF was recommended but wanted to try OI first while I saved up as it's so expensive when private xx

It’s so expensive isn’t it. Are you not eligible because you already have a child then? That seems so unfair xx

Yeah that's right, I think it's the same across all the UK. I guess because there's only so much funding, so it goes to those who haven't already got a child xx
