Help!

We were lucky enough to get 4 embryos from our first cycle, 2 top grades (one was an early blastocyst) - both implanted, both ended in miscarriages - one at 6 weeks, one at 8.

Our third transfer didn’t implant - this one was an early blastocyst, not as good grade (2:1 graded at my clinic) and we have one final embryo remaining - the lowest quality at 2:2.

We are considering doing a whole new cycle because the first 4 were not PGT-A tested.

We had low sperm due to a varicocele that has now been operated on but suggests it has had a positive impact on temp and therefore sperm quality in theory should be better in our next go, and hopefully mean better embryos overall due to changes with my protocol too.

My question to you is, would you give the last one a chance? Has anyone been in a similar circumstance and the last one has been successful with similar history to us?

We are concerned that due to 3/4 not working, there might be an issue with the chromosomes and therefore the 4th one may be no good too.

It’s not so much the money that’s the issue, it’s the length of time it all takes, the emotional turmoil, and then my aging eggs!

I’m 37 and really don’t want to be in this pit of infertility forever 💔

Hello

In an ideal world would you like a sibling? If so then full round now would be my advice. You can always have an FET later but you won’t get any younger for another full round.

I’m sorry it’s been so tough for you. It can and does work often in such cases. It’s a numbers game - but with real life consequences for those carrying and losing babies.

@Queenie901 sorry to hear this. This is such a tough journey. I think before committing to another transfer or cycle, you should do further testing - immunology & Microbiome. You could look at Screen me or Fertylisis for this x

@FET2026thank you.
I think I’m deluding myself into thinking that because of the varicocele being fixed we would be able to have a second naturally! X

@confused2025we have had level 1 immunology, scans, ultrasounds etc but all clear, only a bit low on vitamin D. Microbiome is something I’ve been looking at though so your suggestions are really helpful thank you! X

Not deluding yourself at all. It may well be possible. But if you want multiples and you have funds I’d go straight to second round.

Of course it’s for your and your partner to discuss.

Agree with FET2026 - If you do want the possibility of a sibling I’d do another full round now. If your last fet doesn’t work you will have only lost a few months before going onto a full fresh round. However if it does work and you get pregnant, realistically you’d be looking at maybe 18m-2yrs by the time you’d could do a fresh sibling round by which time you’d be 39/40.

If your aim is one child then I’d go for the fet as I could still work (though I’ve been in your shoes and appreciate the feeling of wanting to start afresh) and then you’ve avoided the stress and cost of a full round. x

I think I'd go for another full round and pgta testing in your circs (recognising ideally you'd like more than one). Just gives you more chance and that frozen embryo will still be there for you to use if you get to that point.
