AMH Help

I have just received my AMH result back and it is 2.84 ng/mL. Can anyone help in giving me an indication of what this means? I don't have my next appointment for another month.

My amh has always been measured in pmol so not sure how it compares but there are charts online. It’s only one indicator so it’s useful to know but there are other factors which are also important.

I don’t know where yours sits on the scale but a low amh might mean a less than ideal candidate for ivf on paper as it’s less likely you’d produce multiple eggs during a cycle, but there are still options available and women do have successful ivf pregnancies with lower amh. A low amh when you’re younger mean your eggs are more likely to still be good quality but you just have less of them, think quality over quantity. A higher amh can mean good egg reserves and more likely to retrieve a higher number but it’s not necessarily an indicator of quality or success, again age is a better indicator of that. Really high numbers could indicate pcos. So it could mean a couple of things really.

Bottom line is that whether amh is high or low there’s a possibility of successful pregnancy and your consultant will tailor a plan which will optimise your chances after weighing up all the different factors.

If definitely in ng/mL your level is good.

I don't think I had understood that there were two types of measurement. I was just focusing on the number. Thank you very much for the responses. 9 really appreciate it.
