Hi All,

I have a 5.5 DC and been trying for baby no.2 since October 2022 (its now been 3 years and 2 months).

I have tried anything and everything - massages, acupuncture, supplements, opks, bbt etc etc.

Currently on the NHS (waiting for next appointment), my tests have all come back normal, husband sperm 2% morphology but all the other parameters are high.

Does anyone have any success stories or advice if you been in a similar position - or is it time for me to just give up now :(

I dont think its time to give up, I think its time to try something new. You could try ovulation induction, maybe your needing a hand in that area, could possibly be a progesterone issue, could be lining. I would talk to a fertility specialist. You dont have to jump into ivf or anything but they can run more tests and read the results with more accuracy, they also can trial things and prescribe other fertility treatments that a gp can not. I dont really have much more advice then that. Iv been doing ivf for a year and so far come up empty so to speak.

Hi Enn,

I had my first baby when i was 34. Tried for a second from the age of 36. Nothing happened for a few years and just as i was giving up, i conceived at 41 and gave birth at 42. Never any explanation for why it took so long but it took me 5 years. Delighted we got there in the end though.

Thank you so much for replying and hope your IVF is successful! When I have my period I only get 2 days red blood and few days of brown and very little of it - i did tell the fertility doctor this and he dismissed it as a concern, but hoping we can do some tests to look into this.

Hii!
Thats so good to hear! Im 33, started trying when I was 30 - hoping it will be very quick this time (1st try took 18 months) but unfortunately here I am. Did you have any fertility tests/treatment during the time you were trying?

I'd suggest a comprehensive pelvic ultrasound scan, if you've not already had one, to check the uterine environment and anything else physical that could be going on. I had a surgical TFMR having conceived quickly, and then when I wasn't conceiving again after a while did some investigations and found I had scarring and adhesions that were causing me problems. Good to rule out!

You could also consider hormone testing, either at a fertility clinic who will offer a wider range of tests than a GP will, or with Hertility who do a range of hormone tests and costs about £180

Thank you so much for this suggestion- I pushed my fertility doctor for an ultrasound and my results show that I may possibly have a polyp on my cervix and fibroid in my womb. I dont know whether this is the reason for my unexplained infertility or how to proceed now.

I dont know much about either I'm afraid, I think from reading others stories that these can cause issues if significant enough, but not necessarily, if your doctor hasn't been very clear about the potential impact I'd chase them up or get a 2nd opinion. Frustrating to not get clarity!

It could be the cause , its different for everyone. I guess you can talk to your care provider about having them removed possibly. I hope you find some answers about moving forward with your fertility..

How did you give birth first time around? I had IVF for DC1 and a C-section and now have a C-section scar niche (isthmocele) that may be the reason for further IVF failing (it could also be random bad luck but clinic think the isthmocele is significant enough to have an impact).

You mention sperm tests but don't mention DNA fragmentation test - Dr Jonathan Ramsay is very knowledgeable (and as it happens a lovely man).

I wouldn't bother with NHS, I would go straight to a fertility clinic and quite possibly start IVF only after relevant investigations.

@Miraclemuma03thank you - it would be nice to have some answer.

@daisypizzai had a vaginal birth - thank you for the recommendation- do you know which fertility clinic hes part of and I'll look him up.

I’ve had this too - have you had it repaired?

Sorry, just saw your post. Yes I have had it repaired at my clinic in Spain via operative hysteroscopy, it was partially successful so has not gone completely. I have the choice to undergo the repair again or transfer now that the niche is much smaller.
I have also seen some people have laparoscopic repair which would be more invasive. You're welcome to PM if you want to ask any further questions.
