Subchronic hematoma - should I stay on blood thinners?

Hi

i have been told I have a Subchronic hematoma, i am 8+3 and baby measuring spot on, I am on blood thinners - Inhixa 60mg .. has anyone stayed on blood thinners with a hematoma and it absorbed ok ? I am aware the blood thinners can stop the hematoma from clotting and therefore it could get bigger / worse so should I stop the blood thinners ? Only on blood thinners as I tested positive for sticky bloods on 1st test but on the routine 2nd test I was negative but the clinic gave me them as a just incase ? Any success stories with staying on them or coming off them ? Thanks

Speak to your clinic for advice and guidance on your individual situation x

per pp you should speak to your clinic for your specific circumstances, but for some reassurance: I had a subatomic hematoma from 7weeks pregnant and was advised to stay on my blood thinners (Arovi injections). It disappeared and the rest of the pregnancy was fine. Good luck!

Definitely seek advice from a medical professional for each individual case. With my last 2 previous pregnancies I had a haematoma and had to stay on my blood thinners which were clexane 40mg in the first pregnancy and 60mg in the second pregnancy.

Thanks for the replies, I was initially only told to take the blood thinners up until 8 weeks but I pushed at about 6 weeks to stay on until 12 weeks as I was anxious and they agreed to this , so just wondering it should be ok to come off them? @Zypig @Miraclemuma03 can I ask the reason you were on the blood thinners ? I was on as a precaution after reacurrent miscarage, were you guys the same or have you been diagnosed with APS? Thanks

I was on them for numerous reasons but the biggest was when I am pregnant I have that blood clotting issue. Sorry dont remember the name. In addition to blood clotting disorder while pregnant its also because of my age, the amount of children I have and some other reasons but cant remember. I have to stay on the blood thinners until 6 to 8 weeks post partum.

@Miraclemuma03 thanks for this. See this is what I am wondering, if I develop the hypercoagulability just while pregnant. I have been tested for sticky blood and it showed up on the 1st test (not long after I had a miscarried) then was away by the 2nd repeat test. But NHS are just refusing to give any blood thinners as the 2nd test come bk neg. But they are not considering I might get the hyper coagulability only while pregnant. I have had 6 losses unexplained and this time was the only time the fertility clinic let me use blood thinners , and I am nearly 9 weeks with a healthy developing pregnancy so far .. I don’t know is it because the blood thinners but it could be. I am to be on them for 12 weeks from my clinic but I have now been discharged from the fertility clinic and will just be under NHS care now and they are not willing to continue me on the blood thinners , if I come of them at 12 weeks can it not effect the placenta and it can cause issues with that? Or have they done there job by 12 weeks ? I am scared to come off them something happens to the baby after 12 weeks. But on the other hand if I am on them for no reason it could make the hematoma larger ? Is there a test that can be done while pregnant to check if you have the hyper coagulability do you know ? How did you get diagnosed? Thanks so much

That sounds very hard and im sorry I have no answers for you. I myself have a very long drawn out pregnancy history so its just things that are picked up along the way. I would ask to talk to someone higher up to atleast be on the blood thinners until 12 weeks and maybe get your clinic to send their recommendations. Its strange your clinic didnt give you a script for blood thinners for the duration they wanted you on them for. I hope you get some answers and your care professionals put your mind at ease. Let them know at your next appointment how scared you are to come off them.

AmberRose26 · 29/11/2025 11:48

@Miraclemuma03 thanks , I can come if them now if I want ot say on until 12 weeks, I am going to contact my gp and ask for, if when I do come of them, that I get tested for hypercoalugliiblity within a week of coming off them just to monitor it, I’ll call the GP on Monday and hopefully it’s something that can be done as I am genuinely scared to come off and something could go wrong with like placenta abrution but then if I don’t need to be on them am scared to stay on incase they cause excess bleeding. It tricky and only that test can figure it out for definitely. Just strange how after 6 losses, it’s working this time we tried blood thinners ?! Thanks you so much for replying and supporting me and sharing your experience I really appreciate that.

Hi @AmberRose26I was just on them as it was the standard protocol for my clinic. I actually ended up taking baby aspirin from around 15 weeks as I had preeclampsia risk factors (maternal history and my first to term pregnancy). I felt kind of glad about that as I’d never tested for sticky blood but I’m aware I clot very quickly and I saw aspirin as a halfway house!

Miraclemuma03 · 30/11/2025 01:03

Thats a good plan moving forward. Its so scary after all the loss to try and move forward with change when something is working right this time around. Hopefully its actually nothing to worry about and you can continue in your pregnancy with no real hiccups

AmberRose26 · 30/11/2025 11:05

@Zypig ah ok that’s good they have you baby asprin, glad everything went well for you. @Miraclemuma03 thanks yes it’s a worry, fingers crossed the GP will be willing to give me the blood test and will just put my mind at ease. Thanks all

I stayed on mine

Hematoma went away

I still take them now

AmberRose26 · 01/12/2025 07:38

@worldwidetravel2017 that's good your hematoma went away, how many weeks are you now if you don’t mind me asking? Were you only on them as standard protocol or for blood coating reasons? Thanks
