IVF and recurrent miscarriage

I'm looking for stories from people who have suffered multiple miscarriages and been successful with IVF. I know it can be a really tough subject to talk about.
I am 30 years old and over the past 7 years I have had 11 miscarriages. I've had multiple test, biopsys, scans and investigations done - all results normal. My husband has also had bloods and sperm tests - all normal too. Our doctor is finally doing us a referral on the NHS to the IVF clinic in our city.
Can they help us? Will they help us because we can get pregnant, we just can't keep it. Is our success rate so incredibly low due to the amount of miscarriages we have had? Surely the IVF clinic will want to help us solve our mystery as to why this continues to happen.

So many questions.

Hopefully there's some success stories out there.

Im so sorry for all the loss you have experienced. The difference with ivf is that you are able to have your embryos tested for abnormalies and also have your progesterone monitored. There are all sorts of reasons for a miscarriage but if you have had all the testing done that are coming back normal then the next steps would be testing embryos and tracking progesterone and the ivf clinic can also test for nk cells and other things. but the 2 biggest reasons for miscarriage are low progesterone and embryo abnormalities. Some woman just need a little bit of an extra hand.

Sorry for your pain etc

Has your blood clotting speed been checked?

Has celiac recently been ruled out ?

Have u had auto immune tests ?

worldwidetravel2017 · 30/10/2025 15:34

Also - have u ever been on blood thinners?

worldwidetravel2017 · 30/10/2025 15:35

We are 20w preg via ivf

( history of loss )

I needed blood thinners, progesterone etc

We also paid for pgta testing - to help avoid more miscarriages

I also have,been on asprin

My ivf consultant was 1st person to pick up on abnormal blood clotting speed

( NHS bands are SO wide - too wide - gp had marked it normal - it was not )

Hi , I am also taking blood thinners this transfer, can I ask how long were you on them ? My clinic say till week 12 .. but I don’t know if I would be apprehensive to come off at week 12 ? Hope you don’t mind me asking ? Thanks

So sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

when you say sperm tests, has he been tested beyond the standard semen analysis? We’re looking to test dna frag, for infections etc. as a next step

Edited

It depends

They've put me on them for whole pregnancy - im consultant led care - they believe i have aps

Ivf clinic schedule was til 12w

But hosp / consultant have extended this

Is your pregnancy consultant led ?

Maybe raise with gp / consultant

AmberRose26 · 02/11/2025 09:08

@worldwidetravel2017 thanks for the reply, not consultancy lead, but yes I will bring this up with the gp /nhs if I get that far and once I am no longer under the fertility clinic I guess ?! Many thanks

Hello, I’m currently in my IVF after recurrent miscarriage journey. I did PGT-A testing too. I’m about to do my second transfer in a week or so (my first failed in the summer).

So I’m not replying from a place of success - but I guess in a similar position. I have high NK cells so I’m on steroids and an immune protocol as well. Have you done immune / Natural Killer cell testing? Wishing you luck! X

Ivf pregnancies mean you tend to get deemed high risk
& gef put on ivf pathway with nhs
