Pregnancy in unknown location - PUL

Hi guys. Just looking to see if anyone has experienced a potential PUL?

Backstory, transfer was 3rd October, positive test on 7dp5dt, squinter on a FRER. We noticed the tests weren’t really progressing so assumed a chemical. Beta on day 12 came back at 17 so we thought that was that. Day 14 had gone up to 30. Day 18 they were 146. Clinic were unsure what was going on and possible ectopic was mentioned, but small chance of successful pregnancy.

I ended up having a private scan on Monday at 6+1 and nothing was visible in the uterus. She also couldn’t see signs of an ectopic. I called the clinic and told them and they had me go for bloods yesterday, 1 week after my last bloods and they’d gone from 146 to 711. I have to go back tomorrow for bloods and at the moment they’ve kept my original scan date of Friday in place.

I know at this point this isn’t a viable pregnancy. I’m just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and what happened? Also, how long after were you able to do another transfer?

It’s such a crap experience! All of the limbo makes it hard to process your emotions on it, but I feel like we’re finally getting somewhere, and just knowing now that it isn’t going to be viable has allowed me to someone start to deal with it mentally. Thanks for any insight 🙏

Sorry @InfertilitySWS 😞. I’ve had this and it was 8 weeks when they actually called it. 6 weeks was PUL then at 7 weeks they could visualise something (though not what they should see at 7 weeks) so had to wait another week to see if any further growth before stopping meds. It was hard knowing it wasn’t viable but having to keep up the meds and not being able to start the process of moving on.

I had complications afterwards so it took a while for my body to get back to normal. But clinic wanted one normal period after bleeding from the loss had ended so in theory if you feel ready you might be able to transfer again in two more cycles. I don’t know if you’ve had implantation before but the clinic did take some positives from the fact that pregnancy had technically been achieved but that it just wasn’t the right embryo that time. Hopefully next time is the right one 🤞

Nothing to add, but I am so, so sorry.

Update in case anyone searches and is having a similar experience!

After a lot of back and forth, I ended up being told to stop meds and had to go back for bloods and a scan. Bloods kept doubling, I bled but not a lot. Had to go back for another scan and bloods. They said to come back again for more bloods as they couldn’t really tell what was going on. They then called me late that same night (day of scan) and asked me to come back on the Saturday, which I knew was weird as they’re only open til 11 so they wanted me in quickly, and they wouldn’t tell me why, just that another consultant looked and gave a second opinion and to come in to discuss.

I went in and they said they suspected a molar pregnancy and wanted to book me for an emergency EPRC on the Sunday. I then had that which was pretty rough and pathology confirmed a partial molar.

Definitely taking a long break before transferring our remaining embryo. It’s been a long road since the beginning of October and I’ve only just stopped bleeding and got a negative test.
