how long for NHS funding for IVF?

I know this maybe a very broad answer but wondering what everyone’s wait time for nhs funding was?

I have lost both my tubes due to ectopics and have a appt with a IVF clinic in dec through the nhs, i was told we maybe classed as priority as there’s no chance i can conceive naturally but just wondering how long everyone else who went through the nhs waited for their funding to be authorised?
for reference i am in banes, no children, non smoker and bmi of 26, we have had all private tests done for sperm and bloods etc as heard this can speed up the process
thanks!

I think this will depend on your trust and also the specific clinic you are going too and their waiting times x

I’m north east and it was really quick. I had to loose some weight before I qualified. I hit target weight in June, got offered a date in August but ended up being September.

I may be wrong, but from what I remember we had to have all the funding accepted before we got our appointment through for the IVF clinic, it may be worth speaking to the clinic to see if funding has already been accepted?
I think from the doctor submitting it and being approved it was only about 10 days, I'm greater Manchester and that was back in 2023. Best of luck on your journey x

oh really! maybe that’s the case as i lost both my tubes and when i was leaving the hospital the consultant said he had referred me to fertility for IVF and i should hear by 8-12 weeks but maybe sooner as i can’t get pregnant naturally.. i got a appt through within 2 days! fingers crossed then!
I know it’s postcode lottery but just wanted a rough idea on others experiences, Thank you everyone x

I don’t know the answer but interested to hear - are you with care in Bath by any chance? I know there’s a few fertility clinics nearby. We’ve started medicated cycles with them (nhs) but I’m feeling more and more like we’ll need IVF and worried about how long it all takes!

Hey yes thats where my appt is but i actually live in wiltshire so was told i can choose to have treatment closer to home if needed as care is about an hour and half away from us but equally if they can start our IVF quicker i will travel! aww fingers crossed it works for you x
