How much progesterone were you given for a natural or modified natural frozen embryo transfer?

Hi ladies. Just as the title suggests. I ovulate normally. Last day 21 progesterone blood test was 39nmol. Due to start a natural transfer cycle in October. My consultant wants me to take Cyclogest 400mg pessaries three times a day starting day after ovulation and also clexane daily. We will be transferring 5 days after ovulation. Does this sound right? I've read mixed things regarding progesterone being too high on transfer day affecting implantation. Thanks

I did a modified natural transfer, initially I was on 2 x cyclogest a day, did a progesterone test pre transfer and they added in Lubion as well.

I did a couple more tests after transfer and resulting positive test and eventually was on prontogest injections and 2 x cyclogest, which is max dose - my clinic definitely wanted to err on the side of caution and their desired progesterone levels are quite high. I was told it can't really be too high!

I was on 1 x cyclogest every 12hrs, i don’t know if it has anything to do with past history or not but I’d never been pregnant or had a MC. Also my cycle is very regular and predictable. Best of luck OP 🍀

Hi. That's good to know. They've said that they'll do a progesterone blood test on transfer day and call later if I need to change the 3td Cyclogest at all. Just seems a bit too late by then imo. I am with crgh. Which clinic are you with? Maybe they all just have their set protocols x

Hi. Thanks so that means you'd have been on it twice a day I am guessing? I am not sure why they want to put me on 3td Cyclogest then. I have regular cycles, definitely ovulate. Never been pregnant (trying 2 yrs) but then we found out my husband has antisperm antibodies so put it down to that. I am 37 maybe age is a factor x

I was at the Lister Chelsea, they did tests day before transfer and a few days after and upped my meds then, and was fine- my Dr said the progesterone levels matter more later on in the TWW anyway, then another progesterone test once I'd had mt positive test as I had some spotting. I forget the measurement but they wanted my progesterone to be over 80 and it was on the cusp of that a couple of times, but seems to vary what clinical aim for

Thanks. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I think I might have seen a couple of your posts on another thread. We've emailed our consultants secretary to double check the dose of Cyclogest and reminded him I do produce progesterone myself too. See what he says. So far his advice has benefited us so if he still thinks 3td is better ill stick with that but I definitely want my progesterone levels checked around transfer time. It's our first transfer so feeling nervous. I really want this to work so badly. The constant scans procedures appts is too much.

I was 35 when I was taking them also male factor infertility, I don’t know but it sounds like they’re airing on the side of caution which isn’t a bad thing.
I wish you the best of luck with your transfer. My advice is try to stay positive and try not to obsess and control everything. I did this because that’s just how I am and it was so stressful and it didn’t work. I was gutted but the second time around I was more relaxed, maybe because I knew what to expect, and it worked!
Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Yeah see what they say, I think they'll always be cautious with the supplementary progesterone as a lot of women don't ovulate in the embryo transfer process - they weren't sure I did even though I had several good size follicles- and there's no downside to taking the progesterone aside from feeling bloated! Def get progesterone tests as well.

Good luck, and I'd echo what @Kaybee1989 said - try and live your life as much as you can, it's so hard but nothing you do or don't do will make a difference, once the embryo is in its down to luck! I was more relaxed in my 2nd transfer, and of course I can't say that's what made the difference, but life was less unpleasant! I kept pretty busy, I actually ended up going to 3 day festivals while in my TWW! A bit different going sober, but distracting!

Needamiracle12 · 30/09/2025 08:24

Thank you both for your advice and kind words. You're both right I am going to try to stop obsessing and googling every element of the treatment. I need to leave it to the professionals! They're definitely airing on the side of caution but yeh I'd rather be a bit high on progesterone than low. Will let you guys know what happens 😬 xx
