Me and my partner (22) of 7 years, have been trying to conceive for around 4 years.nothing has ever happend.i track my ovulation days and my cycles and still nothing.is there other things I could be doing to encourage it to happen.any tips would be a great help as I feel like it’s just never going to happen?

Hey @LAS22 if you've been trying for 4 years woth no luck, I'd suggest going to your GP and having them run some basic hormone blood tests

They should do these around day 2 and 21 of your cycle to check if your hormones are at the right levels and check if you're ovulating. They can also arrange a semen test for your partner. They can then refer you onwards if anything comes back not right.

Advice I got was also to have unprotected sex from when my period finishes, every 2-3 days, until day 21 of my cycle (this is based on the assumption you have a 28 day cycle and ovulate around day 14 - my cycle was always shorter than this though and if yours is much longer, you might ovulate later)

@Orangewillowi have had progesterone test twice a while ago and one month came back that I didn’t ovulate but then the second one was saying I did ovulate.ive also had a camera and a scan and they said everything seems normal.is it best to get my partner to get checked ?
I just keep hoping that one day I look at a test and it comes back positive.
i feel like people will be judgmental also about my age

Ah got you, yeah I'd say definitely get your partner checked out, I think male factor gets overlooked a lot and he's of course half of the equation!

I'd say push your GP to refer you to a fertility clinic where doctors with more knowledge can help you out, GPs don't know a lot about fertility and given you've been trying a while, it's worth getting some help - it's so dispiriting to keep trying and not getting that positive test.

They shouldn't judge you for your age, it's probably more common to have older women coming their way but everyone deserves compassionate help and I hope you get it!

@Orangewillowyes I totally agree.i feel like it’s not spoken about for people my age.i think people my age think you can get pregnant straight away but I’ve found it difficult and hard to deal with, all I want to do is become a mother and have a family.
I want other young people to feel comfortable talking about this and not thinking there alone
