Hi , was wondering if anyone could shed some light . I’m 30yrs old, irregular periods since I first started my periods and have been ttc almost 5yrs. Some years better than others. Had significant weight gain during Covid and bmi quite high. Did manage to successfully lose some weight but piled it back on by the time I was finally referred to fertility clinic.
Ive taken progesterone maybe 3 times all together since 2021. First ever time I took a 10 day course which I believe was 1 tablet daily. I had a light ish bleed which lasted maybe 5-6days. Fast forward end of 2024, I was going 3-4 months without a period again so took a 7 day course of 2x 10mg Provera daily. I did have a bleed ( although have to say more painful esp with serious gas like cramps?) and it would last 7days. Then I’d have a week of no bleeding and I would have another bleed a week after! Again lasting for 7 days.
Similar thing happened when I took it end of April this year. I had a bleed around mid May, then nothing for 7 days then another period end of May that lasts 7 days. I’m guessing I wasn’t shedding fully.
Could it be that Provera course of 7 days is too short for me and doesn’t trigger the full shedding? I ask as bit worried about hyperplasia esp with my history of absent periods. The fertility doctor that did my scan said for someone that hasn’t had a period since May the lining isn’t too thick, but that she’d prescribe me Provera course of 10 days (2x 10mg daily) and I should come back on day 2 of bleed for an internal ultrasound to check the lining and if it’s shedding. She said if the lining is still 7mm they’d need to do a biopsy.
However knowing my history of having two bleeds when taking Provera, I’m worried the lining might still look thick because I haven’t yet shed properly prompting the biopsy which I heard is very painful. But since this is a 10 day course, could it be different?
That was a long winded way of asking if different courses/durations actually have different effects, and if hyperplasia can still happen with a 6-7mm lining.
thank you!
