Success after Multiple Transfers

Hi, just looking for some stories of hope really and wondering if anyone could share any stories of success after multiple transfers! And if they were from multiple egg collections please?

4th transfer was my lucky one (currently 10 weeks pregnant). After 3 failed ones with good embryos they did more advanced tests and found a high level of uterine killer cells. 4th transfer was done with intralipid transfusions against it and embryo glue thrown in just for good measure.
I had 16 follicles, all ripe when collected, 13 fertilised. Due to local laws (abroad) they were cultivated in small batches for each transfer so as to not create unwanted embryos that might end up being destroyed, 1st transfer 4 cells cultivated 1 embryo to transfer, 2nd 3 cells also resulting in 1 embryo, on the 3rd all 3 cells made it. So I still have 1 embryo and 3 cells left in kryo and hopefully, knowing what we know now, that'll be enough for a sibling in the future

@Omgdnswv thank you for sharing your story and congrats on your pregnancy! I really think I need to be tested for the nk cells but I can’t find any clinics near me that will treat it so going to have to travel I think

How many transfers have you had so far? There are other things it could be. I was tested for killer cells, blood clotting disorders and something about infection or inflammation in the uterus. I'm afraid I can't help with finding someone to administer the transfusions if your clinic doesn't do them as I don't live in the UK and I had to check a few doctors before I found one willing to

@Omgdnswv I have had 3 transfers of 4 embryos (last one was double) and am just starting the process now of transferring our last 2. I had a blood test done for antiphospholipid syndrome (sticky blood) and it came back normal. I also had a hysteroscopy which everything looked normal for

If you're preparing for the next transfer I guess try and focus on that for now. Healthy eating, easy sport, trying to laugh a lot (got obsessed with some weird factoid that people visited by a hospital clown had a statistically better chance at IVF than people who weren't, so on the last transfer we watched a bunch of comedy shows in the days immediately after). Should this one not work, there are more than just killer cells to try and test for. Think my blood clotting test was things like MTHRFR (or whatever it was) Factor V Leiden, and a bunch of smaller less common ones
I've got my fingers crossed for you

@Omgdnswv thanks so much for the advice! Yes I have heard the laughing one before! I went home and watched Mrs doubtfire after my last transfer hahah.

this transfer is our last one funded by nhs and since they won’t look into things any further is why we are going ahead with the transfer without any further investigations then will go private

3rd transfer was the lucky one for me on my 2nd IVF cycle - it was a fresh transfer. I’ve since had a chemical pregnancy with a FET though (my only possible attempt for a sibling for DS, so I am “one and done” now).

For me, it was always egg quality that was the issue (I used donor sperm). At 40, I only got 4 eggs each cycle and although they all fertilised the nurses said that the eggs weren’t great quality. Apparently the quality did improve the 2nd round - could have been the different meds, perhaps the supplements I was taking 🤷‍♀️. I must have got lucky in that 2nd round, that 1 of the 4 embryos I made must have been Euploid and became DS (I did double transfers and 1 didn’t implant and the other 2 ended in the chemical pregnancy).

Good luck!

@Alexandrine thanks for sharing your story and congrats on your son! I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you after that.

i am worried it could be egg quality but I was 28 at the time of collection so it shouldn’t really have been a worry and we had 6 top graded embryos so there were no concerns over anything like that at the time. Saying that they are untested and I have since read that dna frag can still potentially make embryos which look good. I think right now I just have to try and be positive for my upcoming transfer and then take it from there
