Help please - understanding Access Fertility Freeze All Programme

I'm looking at the Access Fertility FAQ page and I'm so confused!
www.accessfertility.com/patient-faqs/

At one point on the page it says, under 'What is included in your programmes?'
'Unlimited Frozen Embryo Transfers (FETs)'

Then later on down the page it says:

'Access Fertility’s treatment programmes cover an egg collection followed by a fresh embryo transfer with all remaining embryos being frozen for one year. If patients choose or are required to have an embryo freeze-all they may be required to pay a top up fee to upgrade for our Freeze-All Programme.'
I understand this is £800 for the two cycle package.

But why is this?!
And doesn't it contradict what it says above it about unlimited frozen transfers?
Feel really annoyed that my clinic didn't mention this when they said I'm quite likely to need a freeze all.

I’m guessing that - standard IVF has your eggs collected, fertilized and then embryos reinserted on the same cycle.

If you stop and freeze all you need to effectively ‘re-set yourself’ to get to the same point again in your cycle so the meds and monitoring for a full FET cycle are a new cost. For £400 over one round it’s not the worst cost I’ve seen but yes it’s a lot to add onto everything else.

I had an unexpected freeze all on no package and it cost thousands more.

Ah thank you so much for your insights
I think I've been told all my frozen transfers would be natural cycles so no meds or scans, so that's why it's thrown me that it would be more expensive!
Also the package is without meds so I'd still be paying for meds myself even if we had a medicated FET.
I guess I should be grateful that we do actually have the extra £800 as some people would struggle to scrape that together last minute, feel very fortunate it's not going to be too much of an issue for us (although still gutted an already expensive process is getting even more expensive!)

When I contacted them about this as I needed a freeze all, I didn’t need to pay anything extra as it was included in my clinics package. But every clinic has different pricing and rules.

My clinic has a similar package where changing from a fresh to frozen cycle was £300 extra for the resulting FET, rather than paying in full for a ‘normal’ FET (which is £3,600). Seems silly as they’re including all FETs, but I guess this way you’d otherwise be getting an extra one for ‘free’.

Even with a natural cycle wouldn’t they still need to do scans to check the endometrium lining?

Ooo @Mrsplants that gives me some hope that my clinic is same as I do think it's odd they've never mentioned it! They didn't reply to my messages today but hopefully will tomorrow.

I think with natural if you ovulate yourself they just assume your lining will be good enough 6 days post ovulation? But I'm a bit clueless tbh! Maybe they do scan.

@Klmno ive found the Access Fertility team to be so helpful and lovely whereas my clinic was always a bit clueless on the package. Even now the clinic sometimes add something onto my invoice and I have to go back to them and say ‘no that’s wrong as it’s on the Access Fertility package’ so my advice would be to drop Access Fertility a message or call to get it from them direct in case your clinic are a bit clueless like mine. x

I questioned this and they said to ignore it! Not sure if it's different for different clinics but I'm with Manchester Fertility and there was no extra cost for my freeze cycle, access were helpful give them a call and they'll explain x

Klmno · 04/09/2025 20:58

Ahh I am actually with Manchester Fertility so thanks for replying @waitingforourmiracle ! We did actually get confirmation from them today that we don't have to pay extra, panic over! 😅

Best of luck @Klmno I've been really impressed with MF! All the staff are lovely, the only thing I'd say is make sure they prescribe enough meds for transfer (if medicated), I kept getting told I needed more patches or progesterone and each time the chemist they use add around £57 dispensing fee which doesn't sound much in the grand scheme of things but when your getting an invoice for meds worth £40 plus the dispensing fee it adds up! X
