Hello I am new here! My name is charley and I am Looking for some advice and comfort, I know this forum is mainly for mums however I am hoping to be accepted as a woman who desperately wants to be a mummy.
I am currently heading into my 4th round of letrozole and I am really struggling. I’m struggling as everything goes how it’s meant to but we still can’t seem to catch. I’m feeling very drained and frustrated. I just want an explanation as to what could be happening but as far as they are concerned it’s just ‘one of those things’ I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through this and has experienced similar feelings and how they got through or any tips and advice?

thankyou 💛

I ended up doing 6 rounds of letrozole which were unsuccessful although through a round 1 progesterone test and using ovulation strips I think I was ovulating. We moved to ivf and I’m currently pregnant (first trimester) on my first transfer so looking promising.

its so hard, I was quite broken by the end of the 6 rounds. Please be kind on yourself. Apart from irregular periods and pcos we had no other fertility issues so I’d really hoped letrozole would work. I also did a lot of work with supplements and diet and exercise so I was feeling more healthy and hormonally balanced especially towards the end of that period of time.

In hindsight I do wish I’d maybe tried a more medicated and monitored round of letrozole, ie with a trigger shot and more scans. I was left on my own after the first round so who knows what was happening. The statistics of success also decrease quite a bit if you don’t succeed within the first few cycles so I regret just sticking through the full 6 cycles.

we moved to ivf a few months after, and although it is obviously very expensive and physically and emotionally demanding, I enjoyed feeling like I was actively doing something and felt more in control. It’s also very step by step with your doctor so felt really nice after just waiting month by month on letrozole.

good luck! Hopefully you found that helpful

Thankyou!
every month seems so different on letrozole, but I do seem to be ovulating every time which is a good sign, I have 6 rounds and then my next treatment is IUI but I am sceptical about that also as I have been told it is lower chance.
i have PCOS, Endo and Adenmyosis, which isn’t great! One thing letrozole has done for me is regulate my periods and going from having literally no periods I am now seeing every single month on time, so I guess it’s doing something. It’s just a horrible feeling, feeling so stuck and it’s so repetitive which doesn’t help. I am so happy you have your miracle baby, congratulations ❤️
hopefully I may get some success but have to trail the storm! X

Hi,

I was in a very similar situation to this. I have PCOS quite severely which meant I had no cycles at all and Mild endo which the consultant didn’t think would effect my getting pregnant.
I had a lap surgery and hysto etc and all was completely fine apart from the endo, and my AMH was really high. so my only ‘issue’ was lack of ovulation.

I did 5 rounds of letrozole and ovulated 2/5 times and I was really struggling. Each month got harder. The doctor said in the end she thought even when I was ovulating that the egg was just taking too long to leave the ovary. so I would eventually ovulate, but by then the egg was a raisin.

having done all of that privately, I then qualified for NHS treatment in her same clinic and was referred for IUI.
I really resisted as I had seen how low the rates were and couldn’t face another round of not really responding to the medications.

however the Dr recommended the IUI with injections, stims and a trigger shot to see how I would react to the medication she would later use for IVF to give her a starting point.
I felt like I was wasting an another month, but agreed to follow her advice.

low and behold, the first IUI worked! I couldn’t believe it! And I’m now 22 weeks pregnant.

I really do feel for you as I really really struggled to get by and you just want to feel like you’re doing something and time was ticking by!

I really hope it all works out for you! I just thought I would write as I know when I thought the letrozole wasn’t working, and my body wasn’t responding, I couldn’t see past it.

good luck xx
