Lining thickness FET

Hi ladies!

Any help or hope is welcome ! I’ve not had lining issues before other than on clomid! But on leterozole and before egg retrieval I was on 10.3mm and 8.6mm respectively!

today I’ve gone for my second scan for FET on estrogen and I’m barley at 6mm 🤦🏼♀️. They already upped me the 2x2mg Estelle 3 times a day so 12mg total and now put me on patches.

did anyone have a similar case and did the patches help?

Anything else help? I’m doing asprin now too, warmth, vit e, l arginine, beetroot juice, walking 🤷🏼♀️. I’m at a loss of what else I can do really!

thanks all! Xx

I’ve had persistent issues with a thin lining - 7.3 on first stimulation cycle, 6.0 FET cancelled, 5.9 FET no implantation - tried oral viagra, topical/oral/vaginal oestrogen and aspirin but nothing seemed to increase it.

Tried another stimulation cycle to try and get my lining thicker (we had some embryos in the freezer but couldn’t get my lining thick with FET) and it was 7.1 on collection day then collapsed to 5.5mm on the day of transfer! They tried to cancel but I asked that they transferred anyway (we seem to have no problems making embryos, just getting them to stick). Currently 17w with that transfer 🤞

I actually read a few large (1000 patients) studies (sorry I’m on my phone so can’t link them) from the Middle East where they don’t have cut offs for ET and they didn’t observe any difference in success rates with different levels of thickness. The large Canadian registry data that I think most clinics go off show a decrease in success with decreasing thickness but it’s not as dramatic as I think most clinics would have you believe. Ultimately I took the view that I definitely wasn’t going to get pregnant if we kept on cancelling cycles (and I feel like I’d tried EVERYTHING at that point) and we had the luxury of having a good number of embryos.

I hope everything works out for you xx

Hi @Glasgirl92 thanks for you comment on here. Congratulations on your pregnancy! We are in the very sticky situation of only having 1 frozen embryo to transfer. We didn’t make many good embryos this stims cycle but I have to use this one before we can move to the next stims on our package.

hopefully it works even if it isn’t at thick as ideally planned to be! Xx

Hi @Hopesforamiracle hope the extra patches help your lining get to the right point. I think for most people upping the oestrogen (pills, patches and pessaries) so the trick. For me, it didn't really - so for my successful FET I did IVF stims to grow my follicles and produce my own oestrogen which worked a lot better. My lining got to 6.8-7 and my doctor said we go for it, he wasn't fussed about it being just under 7 and we never thought I would get to 8 as I've had persistent thin lining issues, he was more concerned it was trilaminar and to move before it changed! Lining had gor to 8.9 on transfer day, that transfer was a success and I'm now 12+3. Good luck getting your lining to the right point, and for the transfer!

Hi @Orangewillowthank you for your reply on this. Congratulations on your pregnancy! It’s great to hear or people having success with borderline linings! Gives me some hope. I did really well on leterozole when I did ovulation induction as it got to 10.3 by day 14 on its own. So I think if this doesn’t work or for future transfers I’ll be asking for that as a prep instead. Seems my body responds significantly better to my own estrogen that to synthetic!

what grade was your embryo if you don’t mind me asking that resulted in success? Xx

That sounds like a good plan to try and produce your own oestrogen instead, it clearly just works better dor some people! Unfortunately a lot of IVF can be trial and error to see what works for you...

The frozen embryo that stuck was a day 5 4BB, we also PGTA tested. My first FET that didn't work was the same grade I think, also PGTA tested, so again there's an element of luck/who knows why the first didn't work and the 2nd didnt

@Orangewillowyep it was bad news at the scan and my lining had actually shrunk with more estrogen! They are letting me to a leterozole cycle on the next round to see about inducing ovulation and my lining building naturally! Absolutely gutted it is cancelled but equally I don’t want to waste a shot with a very precious embryo! Xx

Sorry to hear that @Hopesforamiracle, I had that happen in my cancelled cycle and the one that went ahead, if shrank and then went back up a bit. It's so stressful, and really gutting to have a cycle cancelled - but as you say, better to cancel the cycle than waste an embryo. Really hope the letrozole works better for you next time!
