TTC with raised TSH levels

Hi everyone,

My recent results for my TSH have come back as below,

3.96

has anyone had any experience in TTC/ having a healthy pregnancy with a higher TSH like mine ?

My GP states it’s in the normal range but from what I have read online I am concerned about TTC with a TSH this high due to the risk of miscarriage,

I have not been diagnosed hypothyroid nor take levothyroxine,

Any advice is welcome,

not sure if I should pay to see an endocrinologist for reassurance before TTC

Mine were similar - my first round of NHS didn’t make me aware and I ended up having a chemical. My second cycle, my clinic spoke to me about this and I waited until it was at the right level. I really worked on cutting stress at work and took up weekly acupunture and I also cut out caffeine and fizzy drinks and alcohol completely. I’m now 8 weeks pregnant. My advice would be to try and lower it before you start x

Thank you for your reply and congratulations! @confused2025, may I ask did you take any thyroid medication or just naturally tried to lower your TSH through reducing stress and acupuncture ?

Thanks @Rosienellyit still doesn’t feel real apart from the morning sickness. Yes, I knew a lot of it was work related and from a friend who had a successful round of ivf (her second cycle) in a similar role to me and she swore by acupunture. It doesn’t work for everyone but it really helped me relax. I also work from home and had gotten into a cycle of drinking multiple coffees per day and this really seemed to have an impact. Also, I did start to eat a lot of antioxidants (berries) daily. I wasn’t too keen on going on meds but it works for some folks. Do you plan to do ivf or naturally conceive? Other things that can help can be vaginal probiotics to try and reduce inflammation- I use Optibac intimate women’s flora. It’s such a minefield and you can spend so much money on so many different kinds of tests.
