Period really late - waiting for FET

Does anyone have any experience of this? My cycles are on average 35 days although I have had the odd one go as long as 45 and some be as short as 28. My last cycle was stims and egg collection so it was only 18 days long as the trigger induced the bleed 5 days later (which is in line with what the clinic told me to expect).

We're now waiting for our FET and I'm on day 47 of my cycle with no sign of my period. I've tested multiple times and they're all negative- and we last had sex a couple of weeks ago (partner has been away) so it would definitely be showing by now. Clinic has said that the next step would be to come in for a scan but it's £230 so I'd rather not pay it if I can help it. I do have some norethisterone left over from previous cycles (my former clinic liked to time your cycles so used that to ensure you bled when they expected you to) but I only have 20 tablets so I don't know if I'd be able to take it for enough days to then induce a period (think it was 3 x day) and obviously don't want to do anything to mess up this upcoming cycle. I could ask my current clinic but I suspect they will say they don't advise to take anything until I've had a scan.

Looking for any opinions on any of the following: does anyone have any tips to bring on my period? Should I take the norethisterone? Will having such a long cycle affect my FET in any way?

Bloody typical that the only time I ever want my period to come, it won't!

No tips but if you are doing medicated then your medication dates could be affected. I had to have a prostap Injection, if cycle length was longer than 36 days it had to be taken on day 2 of cycle, if its less than 36 then it was day 21 of cycle. I'm not sure if this would be different for none medicated

I'm in the same boat waiting for AF for FET except I've just finished norethisterone, I'm currently on cycle day 39. I took the pill for 7 days however I have seen people take it for 5 days which you would have enough to do... I would check with the clinic but my clinic told me they were happy for me to take it if nothing had happened by cycle day 30 (which obvs it hadn't)

It is sooo frustrating! Even after a week of norethisterone I don't feel like AF is coming any time soon!! I've been having hot baths and using a hot water bottle on my stomach to try help but nothing yet!
Do you track your ovulation?

No advice either unfortunately but im also currently waiting for AF to show up to start a new ivf cycle. My cycle can be 38 to 40 days in length or as short as 24 days its just the luck of the draw for me. Today would have been 28 day cycle if I had gotten my period but it didnt show up as I expected it wouldnt have and I have no signs of it either. Its so frustrating. Its just a waiting game. Im just eager to get started.

Thanks ladies. It's sooo frustrating isn't it but unfortunately probably not much I can do unless the clinic will let me take the norethisterone and see if that works! If it's not come by day 50 and they won't advise it without the scan then I'll just have to suck up the cost I think.

Hope yours all comes along quickly and puts you out of your misery! And good luck for the treatment too 💕

Hi @FancyGoose, did you get any advice from your clinic? I'm in a similar boat, on CD33 when my cycles are normally around 26 days so getting very impatient to get on with a FET!

FancyGoose · 26/06/2025 07:59

@bamboobirdie no, sadly the clinic didn't give me any further advice and just wanted me to come in for a scan. I held off though and my period came eventually- just nearly 3 weeks late!!
