Use of contraceptive pill before an ivf cycle?

I have pcos and have previously underwent ivf which resulted in a successful pregnancy, never needed to take the pill before ivf.
I'm trying to conceive another child and I'm at another clinic. It seems they are putting me on a completely different protocol compared to what I was used to and this does concern me if I've made the right choice having treatment with them.
I'm already in the middle of my cycle having taken the contraceptive pill.
Has anyone with pcos taken the contraceptive pill before ivf?
In my last cycle I took a synthetic progestin just to bring on a bleed to time it to start ivf. Never took the pill.
I've been reading that the contraceptive pill is not recommended before an ivf cycle in pcos patients as apparently there's a study that has shown it significantly reduces the pregnancy rate in pcos patients. I'm wondering if I'm being treated as a one size fits all at my clinic. We've already spent alot of money and im contemplating quitting before we spend any more as we haven't yet paid for our treatment plan. I'm considering moving clinics where I won't be made to take the pill .
It also means I'm having to take a 7 day break before recomming the pill again before starting stims which means I'm going to having two very short 21 day cycles. Nothing feels right to me .
Has anyone taken the pill before ivf and had success? Or give me your opinion. I'm aware this only affects pcos patients and for non pcos women it doesn't affect results.

Im probably not very helpful as I dont have pcos but I do have very irregular periods and not the greatest quality eggs but with my very first ever cycle of ivf i was put on a pill so that the clinic could take control of my cycle. Im assuming with pcos your periods are irregular so your clinic are trying to regulate your period to have more of an idea of when they can start you on the treatment. The best people to talk to about your concerns is your treating doctor. I would assume they have a plan for you and wouldnt do anything to jeopardise your fertility any further.

@Miraclemuma03 Thanks for your reply. We'll that's the thing , even with pcos my periods are very regular nowadays. The reason they seem to be sticking me on the contraceptive pill is in order to sync me with other womens cycles as this clinic do batching, meaning they can do all their scans, collections , transfers ect at the same time. I've been through ivf and I've never had to take the pill for months before it so it does concern me with the findings. . My treatment plan was made before I even had my blood work or scan completed. I've already spoke with me clinic and their clear instructions are that I must take the pill as its 'too late' for any other option as that would delay treatment by several months as they are booked up

I guess you will just have to try and trust the process. I know its hard but i like to tell myself that these people are suppose to be professionals and know what they are doing and they wouldn't risk their live birth rates by putting someone on the wrong treatment, i know thats not always the case. I hope you get a good outcome either way. Good luck.

@Miraclemuma03 I suppose trusting the process is all I can do. There success rates are obscure. I can find the clinic on HFEA but their success rates and other statistics aren't published so I'm really relying on the doctors accuracy. He could be making up statistics for all I know since I've no way no checking and verifying 😄 I know its a common procedure before ivf taking the pill but I guess its weather your fertility doctor is knowledgeable with pcos , which im not sure mine is. It's alot of money to just gamble isn't it . Easily over 10k plus there seems to be alot of hidden charges alot the way. None of that covers the collection itself if you need anesthetic or a doctor to administer it. I guess I've already started now with the pill so man continue. I just don't like that I'm having to take it for 2 months prior as the studies I've read suggesting the adverse effects for pcos, the patients were only on it for 25 days. I'm doing double that which is frightening .
Was your cycle successful?

Its really scary to continue on a protocol you arnt comfortable with and have no knowledge of especially when you cant do your own research on the clinics success rates. I dont know enough of pcos to comment on taking the pill before starting ivf but I had a friend who had pcos and took the pill for years to regulate her cycle and to prevent accidental pregnancy and when she was ready to attempt at ttc she was successful in the first year of trying and the pill essentially didnt really have an impact on her success and she fell pregnant naturally. I dont know if there are different types of pcos or how it all works but thats just one person but I hope that scenario gives you hope that you will have success especially with the help of ivf.
Yes my cycle that I took the pill before ivf was successful first round with the first transfer and Im pretty sure there was talk that I dont have the greatest quality eggs and on the lower end of egg reserve.. but in future cycles I chose not to use the pill as it causes extreme and continuous headaches and migraines, the downside to that is I literally just have to wait for day 1 of my period to start which could be up to 10 days late and then I run the risk of not being able to have a fresh transfer so there is limited control over my cycle and treatment as my clinic does not do anything on weekends.
