Sperm analysis IVF

We have started IVF and got these results for my husbands sperm analysis. It was done 6 days after his last ejaculation (rather than the recommended 2-5 days).
32% mobile (recommended is 40%)
17% Progressive mobile (recommended is 30%)
2% normal spermatazoa (recommended is above 4%)
98% abnormal spermatozoa
195/210 sperm have an abnormal head
Are these results really bad? Do you think IVF is unlikely to work for us?
Any advice would be appreciated, can these numbers be improved?

Hi! I’m not an expert on the numbers but my husband had mis-shapen sperm and he’s been taking Pro-Ceive since October. It improved at his last test in Feb and we just had our egg and semen collection this week and the clinic were happy with his sperm and no need for ICSI. He also reduced alcohol and caffeine and stayed away from steam rooms and saunas

Hi, my partner had quite bad first semen results (15% rapid progressive and 0% normal morphology). In the UK they recommended some lifestyle change and ICSI. We decided to do the IVF abroad, where they put him on a 40days low dose antibiotics treatment (to treat any possible infection), he reduced alcohol intake and started exercising and also taking Proceive (or similar). By the time of IVF, his result was much better and only IMSI was required (selection of sperms with normal morphology). So do not give up, some lifestyle change can help.

They also mentioned reducing stress, but that is not so easy when your work causes it. Other recommendation was for loose underwear and trousers, so they are not overheating. The sperms maturization time is around 3 months, so you will see the results soon.

Our clinic didn't go through all the ins and outs of my husbands sperm at our last cycle but his last sample was at 2mil and poorer quality that we needed icsi. Their cut off for not using icsi is 4mil. We didn't have any eggs fertilise unfortunately even with icsi so he has been put on a preconception vitamin to try and help, but my husband already doesnt drink caffeine, he doesnt drink energy drinks, he already eats lots of protein, he doesnt drink alcohol, he doesn't smoke, he is active, so he has told unfortunately for him there may be nothing much he can do for his sperm quality or quantity and we just have to hope that the preconception supplements work.

Did they make a scrotal ultrasound? My brother was in a similar situation and they found enlarged veins (varicocoles), which they can fix with an operation. The doctors said this can be caused by an injury at young age e.g. heavy lifting, sport accident.

No underlying issues. We have other kids but we knew sperm already wasn't the greatest and in the past we have only just got over the line for not needing icsi .
