Anyone had positive IVF outcome with adenomyosis and/or polyp

Hi

I had an NHS scan today and possible polyp showed up and signs of adenomyosis. We are due to start IVF soon - just waiting for funding to clear. I’m 42.

Anyone had a positive outcome with IVF despite having these conditions?

any advice or experiences greatly received.

many thanks

Not the adenomyosis, but I had what they thought was a polyp - went ahead with the IVF and I was super lucky and it worked. I can’t remember exactly but I don’t think it was particularly big, but they pointed it out at every pregnancy scan I then went on to have.

We are now trying for our second ( via FETs) and no mention of a polyp so not sure what happened to it!

I do have endometriosis, blocked tubes, multiple cysts - went into IVF feeling very negative.

Best of luck to you! Hope you’re not waiting too long for funding to clear xx

Thank you! I’ve been doing the inevitable googling and feeling quite negative going into IVF. Think I just need to keep my expectations in check! X

I thought they normally recommend polyps to be removed (my IVF clinic wouldn't do a transfer with a poly). As for adenomyosis, with the right protocol (with sufficient down- regulation), there's no reason why it can't work!

Good luck!

I had a polyp removed a few years ago when we started investigations with a fertility clinic. It seems to be standard enough to remove them prior to IVF, in the interest of removing potential obstacles.

I also have mild adeno and am mid egg retrievals currently, doctor will be putting me on downregulation for 2-3 months prior to any FETs as that seems to be the standard for reducing inflammation. Adeno seems to be something typically diagnosed in older women, likely due to how tricky it is to diagnose (officially only via hysterectomy) and many women report stronger symptoms post reproductive years. I think it's often "unusual" to get a diagnosis before then as it's so hard to detect - I needed an MRI read by a very experienced radiographer to get mine. My doctor told me a lot of women have it without knowing about it, especially those with endo.

Exactly this

I have suspected endo and / or ademoysis

We did down regulation b4 egg coll

And will down reg before fet

Long protocol / down reg is the answer for some

Vit c helps fight inflammation

Eat loads of vit c rich fruits
