What did you tell work for appointments (treatment and investigations)

At the fairly early stage of regular blood tests, GP appts and also perusing some private tests, but these appts all fall in the working day. Mostly at the GP surgery so not out for very long. Work is generally very supportive and flexible - but I obviously need to let them know I’ve got appointments. I don’t want to say it’s for fertility - mainly because I’m scared nothing will work and I don’t want others being excited or optimistic for me.
I might just say I’ve got a number of “medical appointments” and keep it vague?

what have others said?

Hey @Wisteria25 until I started IVF I generally kept it vague and just said medical appointments, and made up the missed time at work if needed. They knew I'd had a loss as I'd been signed off for it, so I didn't need to go into detail what it was related to. My work have a fertility leave policy so once we decided to do IVF I told them that and started booking the time off as fertility leave rather than just being surreptitious/taking sick leave, I know not all companies have this so I'm lucky they do, and have been really supportive and flexible. If your manager/team are understanding, it might be worth letting them know so they can be supportive but v personal decision!

I hear you in the exciting/optimistic reaction though - my (new, male) boss said 'how exciting!' when I told him I was starting IVF. He doesn't get it, and also didn't know I'd had 2 losses and a lot of fertility challenges already, so it was so not exciting to me haha

Thank you for replying. That sounds a good plan - my work also has a fertility policy, so if needed I will be able to use that (I think it’s max 9 days a year, but if we do IVF that could be really helpful!).
my boss is also male, and lovely but yes would be exactly the same I think. I’d tell him if I have to, but will try to be vague for now
