Embryo Transfer w/ Tilted Uterus?

I know that this is quite common so I’m just wondering what other’s experiences were.

I’m having a frozen embryo transfer in May. We’re lucky that IVF worked for us last time and we now have a little boy. I unfortunately needed an EMCS, and this has given me a tilted uterus with quite a severe angle.. When I went for my pre-assessment scan, the sonographer thought that a mock transfer would be a good idea as she thought the transfer would be more difficult. However, the Dr I spoke to afterwards said that it shouldn’t be a problem, but I could have a mock transfer if I wished. Although it’s not guaranteed my mock and real transfer would be the same Dr since it’s obviously all planned to my cycle, so would there be any benefit to it? Plus it’s more money because we pay privately. But something is niggling me saying to do it.

I know that they do transfers all the time and I assume have come across many tilted uteruses.. should I risk it without a mock?

I think doing the mock test if it puts your mind at ease is probably worth the extra money if you can afford it. I have a tilted uterus I was told many years ago and it has never been a problem for fertility or ivf and my transfers go perfectly. Everyone is different though and it's best to be sure I say.

omg thank you for raising question on frozen transfers with tilted uteruses. I have been wondering it affects the chances of success. If all goes as planned, my FET will be in april. I have always been told my uterus tilts backwards whenever I do vaginal ultrasounds. I think I will mention it to the nurse on my next monitoring scan before transfer.

My clinic recommends mock transfers for everyone. I have a titled uterus and mock transfer went perfectly with no issues.

Not the same can be said about an emma/Alice biopsy I had but for that the catheter they use is bigger and also my bladder wasn't full enough that time.

The mock transfer is meant to be more for the doctors to do a practice run, to make sure the path is clear or if they need to make adjustments that they know beforehand. I would have not asked for one if they hadn't recommend it but I'm glad I did it for my peace of mind and also so I knew what to expect.

The actual transfer went perfectly too.

One thing I would say is make sure you drink lots of water (they told me 2l for the transfer) as that makes everything easier. They can see better but also a fulll bladder pushes on your uterus and makes it straigher I think.

Thanks for your tips and experiences. I think I will go for the mock transfer.. at least it might mop up some nerves on the actual transfer if it goes to plan without a hitch.
