I'm so sorry for your miscarriages. I had several as well and got a lot of help from a Reproductive Immunologist, in my case it was my very strong immune system rejecting my babies.

Have you looked into the root cause for the miscarriages? Laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, ultrasounds, blood tests RPL, thyroid, etc?

Finally, thanks God I had success at 40 after several years of trying to find the root cause.

worldwidetravel2017 · 27/02/2025 11:54

Thank you

So consultant is putting me on blood thinners as discovered my blood clots fast

Also on metformin due to pcos

^ ultimately when had miscarriage i was not on blood thinners or metformin

So both of those could help

Thyroid is definitely fine - checked multiple times

Been seen by rhuematologist and had many bloods

Had recurrent miscarriage tests - b2 glyocoprotein -
Recurrent miscarriage tests came bk fine

I do have some pre existing conditions and some immune stuff

Theyve ruled out aps etc

Theyve tested 4 lupus b4 and are doing it again

No autoimmune stuff in my immediate family other than me kinda

I have cfs , ibs , pcos , etc

Thank you though

I do have abnornal ca125.
And maybe endo or ademoysis. But consultant said thats why we are doing long protocol etc..

They didnt wana do laparoscopy in late 2023 as we concieved 2nd cycle trying
( but then miscarriage)
& that my body had been through lotsa invasive procedures - 3 colonoscopies, gastroscopy etc

My ivf consultant says we currently have 50 - 60 percent chance per fet

We are doing pgta testing
To try and minimise miscarriage risk

Hi @worldwidetravel2017 I'm not through IVF yet, have just had an embryo transfer so keeping everything crossed, but I started IVF at 38.

I have elevated NK cells, borderline thyroid issue and had a TFMR 18 months ago. Because of the TFMR and a more recent chemical, we decided to do PGTA testing to give us a better chance/a little more certainty and to hopefully bank embryos for a chance of a 2nd baby doen the line

I did 2 rounds of short protocol egg collection on different meds, the 1st round did give us a blastocyst but we didn't have a great number of mature eggs that fertilised and the 2nd round I was on stronger meds for longer (menopur 450) and we did ICSI and that went a lot better!

Sounds like you've done a lot of investigations already, hopefully you're in a good place with it all, best of luck!

worldwidetravel2017 · 27/02/2025 13:38

Ahh so your potentially pregnant until / unless proven otherwise (?) As they call it ?

Sending u all the luck
.do lemme know how things go if you dont mind please

I definitely agree that pgta = wise

And thank you

Nk cells is something we havent looked at :/

OP posts:
Orangewillow · 27/02/2025 13:46

@worldwidetravel2017 thank you, yeah pregnant until proven otherwise (hopefully will stay pregnant for real!)

My consultant is an immune specialist and said generally they don't look at NK cells unless there's been recurrent miscarriage or implantation failure but because of my thyroid results it was worth looking into, apparently they are linked... but generally it's not 1st port of call, and the tests are expensive

worldwidetravel2017 · 27/02/2025 13:48

Thank you for clarifying and i have everything crossed for you

My thyroid is definitely ok - has been checked multiple times

Maybe id consider nk cells test if 1st or 2nd fet dont work
.i do have some immune stuff.
Thank you

Hi, didn't want to read and run and I'm sorry to hear about your struggles to conceive up to now. Just wanted to quickly share my story - I did IVF in late September at 37 after 2 years of TTC, though I'm now 38. So far it's been successful following a fresh transfer. Whilst only 2 of my embryos made it to day 5, the one we transferred is growing nicely and I'm almost 26W now (we had the other frozen). All screening has put me in the lowest risk category despite my age and every scan has been normal so far. Wishing you the best of luck in your IVF.

VioIetMoon · 28/02/2025 09:04

@worldwidetravel2017 hey again :)
Just letting you know i was 38 when I did ivf and very luckily worked first time. I wanted to share with you , I also have pcos, suspected endo , ademoysis, cfs ans ibs too.
My amh was 62 but did lose dose meds which resulted in 7 eggs.
4 mature. 3 blasts but only two suitable to use. Both were poor quality , pcos and age i imagine. 3cc and 5cb but that means nothing , just appearance and it's one of those that resulted in my son.
So it definitely can happen , alot easier than Imagined. I thought for sure as I was 38 and have pcos amongst all my other inflammation issues that it wouldn't

I had success with ivf with pgta age 37 (well so far) . Currently 22 weeks pregnant and I’m 38 now, I had been ttc for almost 3 years with 1xmiscarriage other than that no hint of a bfp in those years. I got 2 euploids out of 5 embryos. The first one stuck. Unexplained secondary infertility. Good luck with it all.

I also have a very strong immune system, I have RA and also urticaria. My 1st 2 fresh transfers failed, now awaiting FET, I stopped taking antihistamines prior to transplantation and I’m now thinking that’s why my body rejected the embryos. Can you tell me what helped you have a successful pregnancy🤔x

@worldwidetravel2017

Immunologist are different from Reproductive Immunologist, I strongly recommend to see one. I get thyroid high from normal as soon as I get pregnant, and not only that, there are other markers that are only abnormal when pregnant.

Check NK cells, T cells, lymphocytes, etc. there are many things I had never heard of that they test.

Best wishes

@worldwidetravel2017 my transfer wasn't successful unfortunately. I'd had an issue with my lining so had a hysteroscopy a few weeks ago to remove some scar tissue, hopefully that'll help going forwards! I'm in for a scan & consultation next week and planning another FET as soon as possible, hoping for better luck next time
