Hi all,

I got my positive beta test after my second FET (first one ended in mc at 6 weeks) and I'm really concerned by how high it is - 2906 at 4 weeks and 4 days. Only one (untested) embryo was transferred. It looks like this is very far out of range. Does anyone have any positive stories with high betas at this early stage?

sorry edited as totally misread your figure.

did the clinic do a blood test for you to get this figure? If so, are they concerned at all?

I’m guessing it could be twins? Or a
molar pregnancy.

@BellaRosex I also had high hcg last week 14dp5dt... 7640! It's off the scale and my nurse thinks multiples. I transferred 2! My scan is Monday, I've read other with high hcg and everything was fine. Did you transfer more than 1?

Oh wow! I'm sure that's exciting/nerve- wrecking 🤣. No, I only transferred one but reading so much about molar pregnancies/ down syndrome and just getting a little worried. Very keen to hear how your scan goes x

@BellaRosex I am worried, like you I checked dr google!! But I've read other forums where it's been totally fine so I'm hoping that it just means this baby is sticking around ❤️ I'll definitely keep you posted on Monday

I fully understand you're worried, anything that is not bang on average in pregnancy can be a source of stress. Dr Google is not helping!

I don't have a personal story to share but there are studies that show molar pregnancies are incredibly rare in ivf, particularly in FET. It's extremely unlikely that an embryo would develop into a perfectly looking blastocyst and then turn into molar pregnancy.

In general, high hcg is correlated with good pregnancy outcomes. The most likely scenario is that you have a healthy baby and you just happen to have high hcg. The range of normal is very very wide. The second most likely (but actually much less likely) scenario is that you have twins.

On Down syndrome - you can get NIPT from 10 weeks onwards to have a definitive answer.

When is your scan? I hope you manage to relax while you wait for it!

@BellaRosex I did FET. Mine was 20,000 at just over 5 weeks (normal max was 7000) and continued to increase. I then had some bleeding and bad cramping. I was convinced it was twins/molar. I’m now 11 weeks with multiple scans showing single normal pregnancy, not molar and NIPT was clear. I suspect I might have had vanishing twin or I might have just had high HCG. Good luck x
