Stressed since embryo transfer

Hello everyone.
I had an embryo transfer in Madrid on February 13. This was the second attempt, as I had a first embryo implanted in October, which didn't take.
Since the transfer last week, I have reduced my caffeine intake and I don't eat pâté, raw fish or raw meat, and no soft cheese- obviously I do not drink alcohol and I have never smoked. In spite of those reasonable changes, I am stressed in my daily life - as soon as I lift a heavy shopping bag, eat feta or salad or, like yesterday when, my 2-year-old nephew inadvertently threw a small ball towards my stomach. This is the kind of small ball: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126729772044?chn=ps&_ul=GB&var=427784401601&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1pqJdKbXQTjuYbYZVPfN2aQ31&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=427784401601_126729772044&targetid=2425733423477&device=m&mktype=pla&  googleloc=9045168&poi=&campaignid=21697391927&mkgroupid=162558106770&rlsatarget=aud-1356891728872:pla-2425733423477&abcId=10027104&merchantid=5442440584&gadsource=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiANC9BhCkARIsABSnSTb2kUrRtHBWH8pyMmgfSKH7Np4WtgpJP52xGYMXdYICTO0fqMg-LEAaAiOOEALw_wcB

I follow the medication protocol, of course.
I usually lie down for a while after each dose of Utrogestan, which I have always done,
but for the dose of Utrogestan in the afternoon (I do it at 1:30 p.m. and not 2:30 p.m. because I am currently in Ireland, which is one hour behind Spain), I do not always have time to lie down for 30 minutes afterwards while I do it for the other two doses of Utrogestan and that fact of not being able to lie down after the afternoon dose stresses me out a bit too.

Even if the bags I lift do not weigh more than 10 kg, it stresses me out, and this ball thing that happened yesterday stresses me out.

I will have the blood test done next week to detect the progesterone level and determine if the transfer worked or not. I just wish I could stop stressing out.

Kind regards, all.

Hi, sorry to hear your feeling so stressed!
I also had a (fresh) ET recently on the 17th Feb.

I can totally relate to your stress. I was going to go swimming tomorrow as clinic said its fine but quick Google online seems to suggest otherwise 😬so probably I'll play it safe just for 2ww.

I really know nothing about this so don't want to offer false reassurance! My personal motto at the moment is that if I'm not putting my body under physical stress it's probably fine? I mean I have a toddler that I have been picking up, DC weighs 14Kg, so more than your shopping presumably 😂 Absolutely no way DC can get into car seat and high chair alone so I have no choice......

When is your otd? Mine is the 26th next week so not to long. Whatever will be will be, I'm trying my best, as I'm sure you are too and nothing much more we can do! Hang in there! 💕

Oh and just to add I'm on utrogestran pessaries too! Never been told your meant to lie down after! Never did for first ivf pregnancy and I never had bleeding or issues during the pregnancy so it Obvs did its job regardless. Who told you about having to lie down?

SErunner · 19/02/2025 09:37

I'm sorry you're feeling so worried, it's a really stressful time. You don't need to lie down after pessaries so don't worry about that, and you're perfectly fine to go about usual activities including lifting etc. They just advise avoiding very strenuous activity for the first week or two post transfer. So long as you're not going out running a marathon you'll be fine! Best of luck.

Oh and a ball/physical contact with your stomach will have no effect whatsoever. Your uterus is tucked right down in your pelvis at this point. It's very well protected. You could fall down a flight of stairs and there probably wouldn't be any impact (although don't recommend you do so)!

@Cherryblossom90 and @SErunner thank you both very much for your thoughtful replies. My estrogen blood test will be on Wednesday next week. Regarding lying down after inserting a pessary- the clinic in Madrid didn't specifically advise me to lie down after inserting the pessary: -one assistant at the clinic said it's advisable, whereas one assistant told me there's no need. I tend to err on the side of caution, as I've never had a baby before and am 43 so you can understand why I'm stressed.
I greatly appreciate you both taking the time to reply.

@Jennifer48 if it was going to make any difference every clinic would advise you do it as it is such a simple thing to add in. Honestly no need, so try not to worry if you don't. Wishing you well.
