If 95% of women get pregnant after 3 euploid transfers… why are so many women here part of the 5%?

I’ve got a few (more than 3) euploids stocked up and I will be doing a FET with one of them in a few months, then more attempts if the first doesn’t work.
My doctor reassures me that by 3rd transfer of a euploid 95% of women will get pregnant and I’ve read the same statistic here. But from reading around here and Reddit , it sounds like MANY MANY women here aren’t pregnant by even the 3rd try with a euploid. It’s making me so anxious, I don’t know what to think or believe.

Hi OP. I suppose the posters and comments on here aren't a reflection of all people doing IVF - perhaps people are less likely to post here if they have had successful transfers, compared to those who are struggling.

Reading about the difficulties on here can make it feel like there isn't much hope, I understand that x

Many women won't do euploid transfers. Depending on your age, the specialists may not recommend it. Paying for the tests are quite expensive and the payment it's per embryo. Usually they never recommend it on your first cycle.

Then, you have women who are poor responders, eg lie eggs collected and if you have only one embryo out of a stun you won't test it because then you don't transfer anything. There are so many reasons. Often women have underlying conditions that don't come up until you start transferring. It's like a lottery, by luck although I would say it's a good sign if you got all those 3 embryos from one cycle.

That's not quite what I mean... i understand that not everyone does PGTA and understand why, and realise that most embryos fail because they are not euploid. But even with euploids, you read a lot of stories from women saying they've transferred 3-4-5 euploids and those have failed

LemonWaterLemon · 24/01/2025 21:31

Hi ya. I worry about the same thing. I worried to the point of advance searching mumsnet “PGTA” “euploid” “normal” and I wrote down user name number of euploids , FETs. I counted 8 people who had 3 euploids and didn’t have success. I counted 110 people who had success with 3 or less euploids (mostly less), 67 of those had success on first transfer, 3 people had multiple children out of 3-4 euploids. So from what I can tell most people are actually successful. Hope it gives you a postive perspective from another anxious person. Best of luck.

sotif · 24/01/2025 21:50

@LemonWaterLemon this made me laugh. A year ago I'd have said what a bizarre and obsessive thing to do, how do you have enough time in the day. The current me would absolutely do something like this and am so grateful that you did! Thank you!

This really gives me hope! Although a part of me worries because 8 out of 110 isn't an insignificant number

LemonWaterLemon · 24/01/2025 22:06

I know, right! This is where I’m at. Obsessive probably doesn’t even cover it. I feel like I calculate my chances 30 million times a day. Strangely…if you put 8 out of 118 total… it’s 96% had a take home baby on my analysis…. Bang on your doctors statistic of 95%. But also take heart in the 67 that took home a baby on first go. Have a good weekend and sending you sticky vibes.

bubu24 · 24/01/2025 22:13

@sotif I also haven't seen a lot of stories from women saying they've transferred 3-4-5 euploids and those have failed...

Actually, even on one of your previous posts, where you were asking about tests, you had 2 people telling you they had success with either their first or 2nd euploid transfer and no one said that they transferred 3 or more and were unsuccessful.

You are only 30, have 3+ euploids, already have a child (relevant as previous pregnancies tends to exclude potential immune issues etc) so you are really in with a excellent chance of success.

Could it be a case of confirmation bias here? Sometimes we can start looking for negative stories to feed our anxious thoughts.

I immediately spot this kind of posts as I only have 2 euploid embryos so thank you @LemonWaterLemon for pulling the stats. Love that! đź’ś

Positive vibes and best of luck to both of you!

LemonWaterLemon · 24/01/2025 22:16

@bubu24 nothing but solidarity! SISTERS IN ARMS (or insanity).

sotif · 24/01/2025 23:13

@bubu24 this is so reassuring, thank you. And you're right, deep down I realise that statistically 95% vs 5% is a pretty good chance... it's just the anxious, paranoid and desperately wanting another part of my brain is terrified of being part of that 5%

OP posts:
LemonWaterLemon · 25/01/2025 06:47

@bubu24 when I looked at those who took home babies of the 96% that took home babies all did by the second transfer. Hope that gives you good feelings about your 2.

sotif · 25/01/2025 09:05

@bubu24 good luck for your second transfer!!! ❤️❤️❤️

I've just had my first euploid transfer fail, but reading this has given me a tiny bit more hope for when we try round 2! It's a shit process this...

AnxiousPoster · 19/07/2025 11:40

Hi @Orangewillow do you have an update just had my first euploid failed FET and a bit heartbroken.

Hi @Orangewillow do you have an update just had my first euploid failed FET and a bit heartbroken.

Hey @AnxiousPoster so sorry to hear that, it's really really rough. After my failed FET I had another surgical hysteroscopy to remove scar tissue, and did another FET with IVF stims to try and get my lining to a good point as oestrogen tablets/patches weren't working for me. The 2nd FET was successful and I'm now 10 weeks and keeping everything crossed! Aside from the different meds working better for me, I don't think anything I did made a difference it was just luck and maybe my lining being in better shape. I did a microbiome test and had taken some steps to improve things there but nothing major

AnxiousPoster · 19/07/2025 15:37

Thank you @Orangewillow on your scar tissue was this visible on SIS or ultrasound. Post surgical management my periods have been scanty. However no scarring is visible on scans. I went to an ashermans expert dr Lower and he said my lining was fine. However I think maybe a hysteroscopy is my next step as I’m pulling my hair out. Congratulations on your pregnancy ♥️ I’ve rule out microbiome issues.

MulletMilltet · 19/07/2025 15:49

@Orangewillow - we corresponded on another chat - nice to hear good news. Wishing you an uneventful pregnancy.

Orangewillow · 19/07/2025 15:51

@AnxiousPoster initially adhesions were identified through an ultrasound, had 2 hysteroscopies to resolve last summer, then earlier this year I had a saline ultrasound which showed there was still some scarring and then when my FET didn't work, had the hysteroscopy to remove it which seems to have helped me out. I've not been to Mr Lower myself but heard lots of good things about him that's reassuring if he is saying your lining is fine. Is that via scans? If you do have a hysteroscopy hopefully that can fully identify if there is anything else happening or rule it out

My lining still wasn't amazing thickness but was triple layer which they were most concerned about... if this transfer hadnt worked I was considering an alice/emma/era, though my Dr didn't seem fully convinced and neither was I.

Unfortunately I think a lot is luck and a numbers game, I was told 60-65% chance of 1st FET taking which is decent odds but still a fairly reasonable chance it won't work, and the odds do get better with subsequent transfers, but it's very stressful!

I also am on steroids for Nk cells, I know not all doctors believe in this or look at it until there have been a few failed transfers but something to potentially consider if you haven't already?

AnxiousPoster · 19/07/2025 16:55

Thank you so much for replying with so much detail @Orangewillow yep Mr Lower is meant to be the best in the business at treating ashermans so I probably don’t have adhesions. My lining gets to around 7/8 mm so sufficient but not amazing. It does look trilaminar. Also on prednisilone for nk cells. I feel like I’m covering everything but still not having success. It’s so difficult. OTD tomorrow for my second FET and not optimistic x

Sounds like you are covering all bases @AnxiousPoster, I totally understand the frustration. Lining sounds pretty good to me (I just got to 7 in places but averaging lower for my FET) and they went with it as I'd had a lot of issues with my lining and it seemed like it just wasn't going to get anywhere near 8, their threshold is 7 but still went with a bit lower anyway. Everything crossed for you for this round, good luck for your test tomorrow

AnxiousPoster · 19/07/2025 17:12

Thanks for being so kind @Orangewillow it’s unnerving covering it all and still feeling so far from the end goal. Gentle congratulations again TTC and IVF post loss is very very difficult x
