Pcos and low motility

Hello I'm just wondering if anyone can give me a bit of reassurance. Me and my partner have been trying for 3 years to have a second child without success. I have PCOS which we thought was the problem but we found out today that my partner also has poor sperm motility (16%) and sperm morphology count was 0. I am a bit gutted as I thought it was just me with the problem but now it's both of us I just feel a bit hopeless. I have been prescribed clomifene to start anyway and he is going to start taking supplements more consistently and make some lifestyle changes and then they will retest his sperm in 3 months time. If there is no improvement then our only option seems like private IVF. Has anyone had a similar journey and had success in the end? I wasn't expecting his results to come back with anything so it's just a bit of a shock. They have given me clomid to start anyway but I don't know if it's going to make much difference if his sperm has problems? Also how vital is it that men give up alcohol? My partner is pretty healthy but does like to have a beer a few times a week and I'm wondering how impactful this is as the consultant kind of dismissed this being today. Thank you in advance xx

Hi @Ellarosa

We are in a similar position,I have a DS from a previous relationship and my current partner has very low sperm count. I am on PCOS spectrum.
We have just done a private cycle of IVF with ICSI and got 3 top grade embryos ☺️
If you have mild PCOS I feel that actually it does work in your favour for IVF, as your AMH will be higher and you have the potential to produce more eggs.
We lived pretty normal lives tbh,IVF is stressful enough without cutting stuff out.
Hopefully your supplements etc should help and you will be able to conceive naturally, but if not you should be good candidates for IVF as you already have a child.
Good luck 💫
