What are people’s views/experience with these? Is there any point adding on?

Thanks

I didn't opt for either of these, we were NHS funded and they advised if a few rounds failed it was something we could try as 'different' to see if it made a difference.

No, they're a money making exercise. HFEA don't recommend using either.

I had the scratch while they were in there doing a mock transfer, 2-3 months pre first transfer (had to freeze all otherwise would have been closer timing). That FET didn’t work.

Included embryo glue for second FET 2 months later and it worked, im now 15 weeks pregnant. There were some other protocol adjustments too so we’ll never know what caused first to fail and second to stick but I’d use the glue again if we ever plan another.

Thanks @Sierra26 and congrats!

Can I also ask if the scratch hurt?

@Twinkle00pea my cervix is difficult to get through with the catheters hence having the mock to make sure we had the right method planned pre real transfer, so I was in some discomfort already due to that as the doc tried different things. Once in there I did feel the scratch but it was just like an intense period cramp for a couple of seconds, then zero pain or even sensation after that. I think I’m in the minority with my stubborn cervix though so it’s highly likely you won’t be in any discomfort!

We are about to do a sibling FET. We had embryo glue with DD although it was very new then and our consultant said their is now evidence that embryo glue makes a difference and recommended we have it again. Tbh it's one of them things, if it didn't work would be blame the lack of embryo glue? Probably! So what's another few hundred pounds in the grand scheme of how much it costs anyway

Twinkle00pea · 08/12/2024 10:39

That is true @Mseddy I keep thinking why not so I have all grounds covered! My consultant isn’t hard selling any extras too so I get the impression they are neutral on that too..

We tried embryo glue for our last FET cycle and it did work, but of course we don’t know whether that’s what made the difference. For context we had one round which ended in early miscarriage, a second round that didn’t work and a third one that did (now 17 weeks). I think it was an extra £200 for the embryo glue and we figured at that point it couldn’t hurt. Our consultant also said that he’d seen a slight increase in pregnancy using the glue in their clinic, so worth asking what the results are in yours?
