Starting FET medication today!

Hi all!

I'm starting my medications for FET this evening and wanted to see if anyone was on a similar time frame?

I've one daughter from a previous FET. I had another cycle last year which sadly ended in a MMC.

Feeling weirdly surreal and nervous for this attempt. Especially so close to Christmas!

Hi OP,

I started my FET meds on 9th Nov! Currently on estrogen tablets 4 times a day. Got a scan on 19th scheduled with clinic. We are TTC for #1. Our fresh transfer earlier this year didn't take unfortunately. Fingers crossed to both of us and anyone else in similar timeline that this cycle will be THE cycle!

FlakyAquaQuoter · 16/11/2024 08:46

Hi!

How exciting! How are you feeling with the estrogen? I'm taking the whole dose at night at the moment. Two down, hopefully lots more to go.
Sorry to hear about your fresh transfer. I have absolutely everything crossed that this is, indeed, the one!
My first scan will be day 10, on the 21st which is a little early. But trying to make it work around my shifts for now so hoping everything looks good that day.

Hi @FlakyAquaQuoter
Taking whole dose sounds much better. Currently spreading my tablets throughout the day and sometimes forget if ive taken one or not 😂
Cant wait for the scan to know if my lining thickness is on track. If all ok, i will be starting cyclogest and lubion until transfer day. How about you? Hope your scan goes well and do update how it goes.

Hey ladies. I’m due to start my meds when AF arrives - should be around the 25th November. Absolutely petrified!

FlakyAquaQuoter · 17/11/2024 18:19

@Eggsellenté - It definitely helps for the most part, though still noticing a few things. Namely that I feel just a bit sick throughout the day, and I'm very tearful! (Not me sobbing to the end of Encanto for the third time this week. My DD must think I've gone insane!)

Yeah I'm nervous of the scan, though I checked back and my scan last time was very early on day 8 as the clinic was closing for refurbishment so they wanted everyone scanned early incase they needed meds increased.
On that day, my lining was 10mm and trilaminer. So I have some hope that my day 10 scan will look okay and I'll be given the go ahead.

I'll be on Cyclogest 3 times a day this time. Last time was lutigest but they changed it for this cycle following the loss.

Thank you, you too!! How are you feeling on the meds?

Hi @ivfjourneyandme !

Is this your first round?
It does all feel very daunting doesn't it. The FET meds are much kinder though, in my experience, and the whole process feels far less involved. Hope AF shows up in glorious time for you.

Every single treatment round I've had has left AF being late. It's like it knows. Except this round. Where I needed it to be either on time or late. And she showed 5 days early. Which caused a bit of a spiral!

Hi @FlakyAquaQuoter

First timer - significant MFI as well as a AMH of 1.9 and AFC of 3. Consultant has prepared us to be disappointed.

Meds are being delivered Thursday so hopefully AF won’t be naughty and turn up early!

Is this your first cycle

FlakyAquaQuoter · 17/11/2024 19:20

@ivfjourneyandme - Are you heading into a round of IVF? Got absolutely everything crossed for you. It only takes one!

I hope she stays on time for you. I was running up and down the stairs and googling "how to make my period" come on my first round. 😂

This is my 6th in all.
The first cycle was an egg donation round.
The second was an egg sharing ICSI round but I over stimulated so had to freeze all.
The third was a Frozen Transfer which resulted in my DD who is now 3.
The Fourth was a Frozen Transfer again which sadly ended in a MMC.
The Fifth was an egg sharing IVF round where I overstimulated again so ended up freezing and here we are, round 6 and hoping desperately to bring my DD home a sibling!

So in terms of transfers, I've only ever managed to have them as Frozen ones.

@FlakyAquaQuoter oh I feel nauseous time to time as well and yes slightly more emotional than usual 😅 Have also been waking up in the morning with headaches a few times, but not sure if it is due to the meds. But FET is hands down nothing compared to symptoms from stims meds etc.

FlakyAquaQuoter · 18/11/2024 06:26

@Eggsellenté - Judging by how I feel this morning.. it may well be the FET meds! I've had night sweats the past couple of nights which are.. unpleasant. But hopefully worth it! Yes I agree, the fet just feels so uninvolved in comparison. One scan (hopefully) and then transfer!

Hi All! Hoping to join this thread as I started meds for my second FET yesterday. First FET was a chemical - it was the first positive pregnancy test I've ever seen after 3 year of trying with unexplained infertility.
Currently taking estrogen tablets 3x a day and on patches as well. They made me super emotional last time, so I'm not looking forward to that.😅My baseline scan is booked in for next Monday.

How is everyone else feeling?

FlakyAquaQuoter · 18/11/2024 22:06

Welcome @ClaudiaRaz! So sorry to hear about your chemical last time, hoping for a lovely round for you.
I was sure I wasn't feeling too tearful this time, but I've done quite a lot of crying, which is very unusual for me so I guess I haven't escaped!
Getting keen yet nervous for my scan Thursday.

Thank you @FlakyAquaQuoter - I realised just how weird all the meds made me feel when I came off them last time! Felt like a new woman when I came off the steroids!! Are you on a fully medicated cycle as well? Fingers crossed your scan goes well on Thurs.

FlakyAquaQuoter · 18/11/2024 22:49

Thank you @ClaudiaRaz. I'll no doubt update on here just to have somewhere to put it all! As wonderful and supportive as the few people who know have been, it's nice when someone understands the hurdles that this journey can bring. But also those wins.

I'm on estrogen 8mg per day, and will start Cyclogest soon too.
My consultant rheumatologist has just offered me some steroids as I've a new diagnosis in the works of psoratic arthritis (with very little to no actual psoriasis!) So I'm currently debating whether to add that in or not. Though I believe it's used in some cycles anyway so perhaps it'll be fine!

Oh that doesn't sound fun at all! Agree with your comment about understanding it - that's why I joined tbh, to speak to others who totally get it.

Well I will be on Prednisolone again soon, as my clinic said it's used in the transfer to suppress immune responses. Have a look online aswell as there have been some studies when adding steroids and aspirin into the mix has helped those who have experienced implantation failure. So I don't think it's a bad thing if you have to take it!

Eventually I will be on estrogen, aspirin, prednisolone, cyclogest pessaries, Lubion and Clexane injections. It feels like so much!! But I would do anything if it means it works.

It makes such a difference when you can join others on the journey!

Oh that's interesting, I'll definitely look into it. Both the rheumatologist and the fertility consultant are happy for me to take it so hopefully if anything it will help!

Oh bless you, it does feel like a lot and can all be quite overwhelming! But as you say, so worth it.
