Hi all

I've had and Ivf abroad and have to take the below injectables:

Progesterone 25mg (prolutex 25 mg)
Fraxiparine 0.4 ml - blood thinner for blood cloths

Do you know the uk names and where to get them from as I can't carry stock for 9 months.

Thanks

Hi,

I think the equivalent of Protulex might be Lubion. Will defer to someone more knowledgeable on the blood thinner!

Prolutex is Lubion, I am sure of that as I used both. You might find it much cheaper where your clinic is compared to the UK. I bought Prolutex from Spain and it worked out almost 50 percent cheaper!

In the UK you can try Zen Pharmacy or Fertility2U. You can email your foreign prescription to Zen but Fertility2U will require the original prescription to be posted to them by the clinic. ASDA might have them too, but they also require original prescription to be posted to them.

Why would you need progesterone for 9 months though? Usually you stop taking them after 10/12 weeks because the placenta produces enough progesterone by then.

I don't know about the second one, sorry.

Hi, the common blood thinner used in IVF in the UK is enoxaparin which goes by the brand names of Clexane or Arovi. I’ve never seen Fraxiparine so you might be best to ask them to prescribe enoxaparin instead as both do the same thing. As Serendipity mentions above those pharmacies should stock it.

In terms of taking it for the full 9 months this should only be if you personally have a particular medical indication that you need this. If it’s just a standard protocol then you’d usually finish it between 10-12 weeks at the latest.

good luck!
