Quick question ladies

In a FET, if CD1 is first day of bleeding/ full flow - what CD is the embryo transferred usually? I am having a medicated FET as PCOS.

Just trying to plan around work

Thanks

hi, it depends on how thick your lining is and whether your clinic transfers on weekends. I’ve had 2 on CD17 and one on CD18 because the day before was a Sunday. Each of those was with a lining that was ready in the shortest time, so my clinic never transfer before CD17 but could transfer a little later if the lining needs and extra day or two or it’s a weekend. Good luck!

Thanks! The clinic is open on Sat AM only I think, not Sunday's. Lining was OK during stims but obviously maybe different with the medicated FET.
Finding it so hard to plan as I wait for period to arrive and also work shifts so it is tricky! Hopefully once AF arrives I will have a better idea

I’ve had 3 FETs, 1 on day 16 and 2 on day 17.
The successful transfer was a medicated FET on day 17. The others have been natural but the lining etc has behaved very similarly each time.

Thank you

With medicated FET - did you have many appointments? On the information sheet it says I will have one mid-cycle scan and then transfer day determined after this.
Just trying to plan with work so think I will likely need half day for scan and then probably take transfer day off too. Or are there lots of appointments? (we are with NHS)

For medicated I think I had 2 scans (unmedicated I had more to pinpoint ovulation).
I also had blood tests but think that was with the unmedicated.

There weren’t loads of appointments for the medicated FET. My treatment was private and not in the UK but one or two scans sounds feasible for a medicated FET.

I would definitely take transfer day off. Other scans you might be able to just take a few hours if your travel time to the clinic is reasonable. Be prepared that at the scan they might ask for one more scan if there is any doubt.

Hi, depends on the lining again. I’ve had a baseline scan on either CD 1, 2 or 3 and a lining scan on CD 10 scan every time. My first FET round my lining was a tiny bit too thin on CD 10 so they gave me a little extra estrogen and I went back on CD12 to check it was above the 7mm threshold, which it was so I started my progesterone then and transferred on CD 17. Worth noting that my lining was fine during stims so it really can change.

On FET #2 and #3 I was given I little extra estrogen from the start so my lining was fine by CD 10 so I could just start my progesterone on CD 12 without a further scan. These were all NHS rounds.

I didn’t take any time off for the scans as they were just a morning. But my work were pretty understanding so its been OK to sneak out for a couple of hours here and there. I would take transfer day off. Not that it is a particularly big physical procedure, but just to keep your stress levels down and stay nice and calm. Depending on your job you may or may not want to take a few days after the transfer, again this is just about stress during the implantation window (2-5days) or if you have a particularly physical job that might impact implantation.

Happy to answer any other Qs.

Ugh I know your pain! Taking time off from work was so annoying as I did not know what days to take off!

In my case, on CD 13 the clinic was happy with the lining, so they asked me start my progesterone. I needed to be on 5 days of pessaries before the transfer. Also day 3 embryos are transferred 2 days early than day 5 ones.
They also tried to match with my regular ovulation day which is CD16.
Hopefully that gives you some idea!
Best of luck xx
