Endometrial Scratch

Hi everyone,

I am preparing for my 3rd embryo transfer and my consultant mentioned the endometrial scratch. He has said there isn’t much evidence to say it can help but there is also nothing to say it can cause any harm so I can have one if I want. Both previous transfers have not implanted but he thinks we have just been really unlucky so far.

does anyone have any opinions on the scratch please? Or has had one and can offer any advise?

I had one because I needed a mock transfer and they just did the scratch while in there with the little plastic catheter.

Our first FET didn’t stick, but it was actually 3 months after the scratch as I got OHSS and had to wait, so I’m not sure it would have had any benefit then anyway. Second FET worked and I’m now 7 weeks pregnant. We used embryo glue that time, I don’t know if it was effective but I’d do it again if there were to be a next time.

@Sierra26 thanks for your reply! I think I’ve made my mind up that I’m going to get it because it doesn’t seem it can do any harm so whether it does any good or not at least I’ll not regret not getting it. My clinic use embryo glue on all transfers I assumed all did but they must not.

congrats on your pregnancy! Have you had your first scan yet?

@Capybara95 sounds like a good plan! I’ve heard that about some clinics with the embryo glue, that’s good you’ll be getting it. We’d never had a positive test before this one so something definitely caused it to stick!

I had a private scan last week as I was so impatient, saw a little blob with a heartbeat. My clinic do a scan at 8wks, so next week, then will discharge me to nhs antenetal if all okay.

When will you be getting started? Sending lots of luck x

@Sierra26 our consultant’s thoughts are very much it’s all in the embryo and that it’s either going to stick or not. Which is a bit frustrating too as it’s just a numbers game then but just have to keep going. We’ve never had a positive test before either.

Oh that was good! I’m sure it put your mind at ease a little bit, I’m sure it was so lovely to see. Hope you one next week goes well too.

we are NHS so have had to go back on the waitlist for treatment but we should hopefully be able to start the FET meds in December and transfer in January. The waiting is the worst part but the private clinics where I am seemed to have quite long wait times too.
