Hi! Just done NHS round and now looking at private. If you’ve gone abroad for IVF, what would you say is important to know? How did you select a provider?

PCOS and 40, in case relevant. First round – 19 mature eggs collected, 13, fertilised, 1 excellent quality 5 day blast. FET, negative test.

I've just had a cycle in Prague. Currently 2dpt5dt. I would say that other than the usual- success rates, safety etc to consider how long it will take you get there and how flexible you are with travelling. Also take into account the cost of accommodation and flights. We planned ours so that I would have a day 7 scan in the UK and then fly out to have the day 9 scan and stay out for a week for egg collection and transfer. It didn't work that way as my period was delayed by 4 days meaning that when we flew out I was only on CD4. We had booked the flights and accommodation in advance because we needed childcare and hadn't shared with our family what we were doing so we were fixed to those dates. In the end it worked out as I had my EC on the last day of our week out there and flew home straight afterwards. I then went back on Sunday evening for my transfer on the Monday morning and flew home straight afterwards.
For us Prague is fairly easy to get to and cheap for flights and accommodation. We got an apartment about 20-30 mins by public transport from the clinic which cost £300 for the week. Flights were about £200 for the week. I really loved Prague and was really impressed with the clinic. If you want any more info just ask.

Thank you so much for the information and hope you are doing well after your transfer!

May I ask how you went about selecting a clinic?

Also if you have details that would be great!

For me I looked at reviews, success rates, testimonials and general Google. I used GYNEM fertility in Prague. I am a health care professional working in safety so it was important to me when I visited that I felt safe and that I could see they had good safety procedures in place. They also offered ICSI as standard which I was happy about. They have good success rates and also rank highly for things like embryologist contact. It was also important to have an English speaking coordinator and at gynem you get one person who is your coordinator and point of contact.
I honestly can't recommend gynem enough tbh. When I had my transfer all the staff were so excited for me- they squeezed my hand as it went in. To have people that genuinely happy when they do it day in day out is a big plus for me.
Price wise I like that it wasn't super expensive but it also wasn't the cheapest. They also do some refund schemes as they see it as a collaborative effort.

I have used north cyprus, I chose one their communication and clarity, I'll be honest though I also chose north Cyprus as I used to live there so have a car there so travel always easy they were so much more thorough than my UK clinic

Do you know where you can get comparison data for clinics in Czech Republic?
