I’ve got blocked tubes and had IVF. Currently 11weeks pregnant
they said really it’s just that the delivery system is blocked so there should in theory be no difficulties if they do the delivery manually if that makes sense.
I also had a few other issues but they werent concerned :)
good luck

Dya mind me asking -
Did they tell you ' why ' tubes are blocked..
Were they interested in investigating ?

My consultant doesnt wana investigate the why

Nope didn’t tell me why and I didn’t feel like I needed to know.
i don’t think they can necessarily say.
there’s a chance mine was due to scar tissue. or possibly genetic as my mum had the same.
But for me the bottom line is, they are blocked, so what now x

i suppose you always have the option of going privately if it’s something you feel that you need answered

Yes might do

The tube flush with foam was private

But yeah - feeling broken and seeking answers

Hi, I have 1 blocked tube, prematurely low ovarian reserve and we also have male factor infertility. Currently 11 weeks pregnant following my 3rd embryo transfer. I was already 2 years into my IVF journey before we confirmed the block tube so I was armed with lots of questions for the consultant on this and spent ages researching.

In summary, blocked tube or tubes don’t impact your success rates in ivf unless you have a condition called hydrosalpinx (which they’d definitely have told you when you had your HSG or HyCoSy test). So IVF has a decent chance of success.

Honestly, this is an odd thing to say, but out of all the issues that can lead people to need IVF, blocked tubes is actually probably the one I’d pick as IVF makes it an irrelevant issue.

@worldwidetravel2017 - a hear you on the age piece but you have an amazing AMH and 37 is still well within the fertile range. For context I’m 34 now and my Amh was 3.3 pmol at age 31. I’ve been trying to freeze since I was 31 when I found out my reserve was low. Your best bet is to just try get some eggs/embryos frozen ASAP. Honestly though, sounds like numbers will be on your side.

Hello! So I found out my tubes were blocked in May. Was pretty gutted but decided pretty quickly to move on and do ivf. I didn’t want to waste time trying to figure out why they were blocked as I figured that wasn’t going to help change the outcome and potentially delay things. For three months we prepared for ivf with supplements, diet, acupuncture etc. my AMH was 39.5 (I turned 38 in July) and my husbands sperm is good. I had my egg collection last month. 38 eggs collected, 20 fertilised, 14 made it to blastcysts with the majority of those being high graded. I was due to have a fresh transfer but because of high number of eggs collected I was at risk of OHSS so have delayed to frozen transfer in November. Who knows what the outcome of that will be but I suppose the point is (as others have made) that as we thought the only reason I wasn’t getting pregnant (staying pregnant is of course very different) was because our guys just couldn’t get to each other! Of course everyone is different but if I were you I would crack on with getting ivf sorted. I’m no doctor but I think your chances are pretty good so my advice would be to get the ball rolling asap for peace of mind.

MrsBP15 · 04/10/2024 12:08

I should say we did everything privately as nhs is not an option for us so I can only speak from a privately funded perspective.

worldwidetravel2017 · 04/10/2024 15:18

Thsnk you so much

I have to see gynae urgently as had some bleeding although cervix looks healthy

That urgent referal has been done
So will see them soon

Tommys baby charity said gynae should be able to tell me more re why they are blocked

NHS ivf funding applic is going in - should know in 6 - 8 weeks

My amh is high due to pcos
But high quantity doesnt always mean good quality

Sending u all the luck
