Hello,

I'm looking to start IVF and we are based in Surrey, near Guildford.
We have started initial steps and tests with care fertility in Woking but so far I've been really disappointed with the level of service and communication. The doctor we spoke to was fantastic but after that we've not heard anything I've had to chase the next stage up. it turns out you mostly talk through a call Centre or the app which isn't very personal. Maybe this is just for the start but I feel like I want to speak to people at the actual clinic.

Can anyone share their experience with care fertility in Woking or can someone recommend another clinic in the surrey area?
thank you thank you

Hi, I don't have any experience with Care, Woking. But my reflexologist who is based in Surrey often recommends The Surrey Park Clinic in Guildford and Newlife Clinic in Epsom as some of her other patients go to these clinics and they seem to have positive experiences. Good luck with finding the right clinic for you, it is a very important step in the process 🍀

Unless it's changed since August 2022 I used to call reception and a nurse would call me back promptly. Don't be shy to chase. I had my cycle August 2022, first transfer didn't take but fkrst frozen one did in October 2p22 and has my son July the next year, and have 4 more embryos frozen with them.

I would say they were good but we had, to our huge surprise, a great round with 6 out of 7 eggs becoming high graded embryos. It was male factor too so can't comment on more complex rounds like long protocol or genetic testing.

Don't be shy to call reception and chat to someone there, best of luck x

Hello, I am with Care Woking doing my first cycle of IVF with NHS funding.

At the beginning, when I needed the initial appointments, I had to chase them a lot, and I think if I had waited for them to contact me each time, things would have taken much longer.
I was also not a big fan of the App at the beginning, however now I think it is convenient and every time I send a question I receive a response very quickly.
All the nurses have been helpful and kind, I can’t fault them.
What I personally don’t like is the fact that they only do scans on certain days of the week (i.e. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays), which might not always align with every patient’s cycle. Recently they also have started a new process where they are doing less progress scans during IVF stimulation. For example in my case I will only have a baseline scan before starting stimulations, followed by a scan after 9 days of stimulations, to hopefully give me the green light for the trigger. As timing is so important during IVF, I would have preferred more monitoring e.g. scans/bloods more frequently to see how my follicules are growing and to time the trigger more precisely.

I still have to go through egg collection and transfer, so my final opinion might change once my cycle is complete.

Hope this helps, I know it is so hard to decide on a clinic, I am also questioning my decision, but I also know it wouldn’t necessarily be better somewhere else.

Hi, so we used them for our first round of IVF in 2021 (fresh transfer, resulted in our baby daughter), that was NHS funded. We decided to go back for baby number 2 earlier this year. Have had 3 frozen transfers. One resulted in early miscarriage, second BFN and third (and last) frozen embryo is a tentative positive for now 🤞🏻

They have gotten much better with communication since 2021, especially with the addition of the Salve app. They were a bit tricky to get hold of at first but once we got started they were pretty good. Staff are all friendly, transfers as pleasant as they go. I don’t feel like they could’ve changed anything with my treatment. Hope that helps.

Did anyone else have IVF with Care Woking after September this year and only had 1 progress scan (in addition to the baseline scan) during stims?

New2TheMNet · 22/09/2024 16:04

Thanks for everyone's comments. We are due to start with Care Woking in a couple of weeks. To be honest, I think I had a better feel for Surrey Park Clinic as you can talk directly to them and they assign a nurse/coordinator to you. But the egg collecting and implantation has to be done in their London clinic which wasn't an option for us. Everything is done at Care Woking which makes that side of things easier. I'll keep you posted and PLEASE SHARE any other IVF advice and tips for newbies xx

Hi!

I have just finished my ivf round at Care fertility woking and found them to be really good. They were a little bit unorganised, most of our appts ran late which was a bit annoying when we had to get back to work sometimes.
But other than that everyone there is really lovely and it is so handy all being in one place. Also found them really quick to reply on the app.

The Dr’s are all very experienced, I am currently 10 weeks pregnant following our treatment and was really happy with my care!

if you have any questions pls msg me, will be happy to answer as I know it can be a really tough time! Good luck x

Hello!

@YellowTack ive just checked my plan and I had 3 scans during stims. On a mon, weds and Fri.
maybe ask why you only have one? As I’m sure there’s an explanation and things tend to change due to timings etc.

Good luck x

That's great news and congratulations! May I ask how many rounds and did you do a frozen or fresh transfer?
Sadly our first round wasn't successful but keen to try again. X

@New2TheMNet thank you! It was a fresh transfer and first round.

So sorry to hear that your first round wasn’t successful. Everything crossed for you this time around. Have you started yet?

YellowTack · 15/10/2024 23:31

@DMS29 thank you for following up. I did ask and they said it was their new policy from September 2024. I was told at my nursing appointment that I would have 3 scans but this changed just before I started treatment. You might have been treated just a few weeks before me as I am currently 6 weeks pregnant.

For this reason, I don’t think I would personally use them again as I feel like my trigger could have been scheduled more precisely with more regular scans.

I had a good experience with my egg collection and transfer, and I don’t know if it is thanks to the embryology team or my eggs, but all 3 of my eggs retrieved made it to blastocyst, and I am currently pregnant from my first fresh transfer.

Hi, I have been doing privately funded IVF with care at Woking this year for unexplained secondary infertility. Two egg retrievals (Jan and March) and 4 transfers - 2 fresh, 2 frozen. I got pregnant on both the frozen transfers, first was a chemical and the second seems to be working so far (fingers crossed!).
For the retrievals we had a baseline scan and two monitoring scan but that was before Sept 24 so can’t comment on any new changes.

I think the clinic has been great. They did move to a call centre a few months ago which was a bit annoying but as a previous response said, if you put a message on the app they will get back to you really quickly.
You don’t get a specific person as your POC but it’s not a huge clinic so you quickly get to know most of the nurses and they become familiar with your case & treatment.

Our Initial appointments were probably more driven by us but once we pressed Go to do the IVF they have been very on the ball and I haven’t had to chase for anything and have rarely had to wait for an appointment. Appointments have always run to time.

Our first retrieval didn’t get good results despite a large number of fertilised eggs but they treated us as a really individual case and talked through various options and provided good information so we made some changes and got a much better result on the second retrieval.

The embryology department have been fantastic and we were able to speak to them in detail alongside consultant appointments - they were very generous with their time and again, really took time to understand our specific case.
