Anyone financed fertility investigations/treatment through BUPA UK

Hello!

I've just been set up on my husband's BUPA UK insurance through his work. I'm going through secondary infertility and tried to book in with one of the consultants listed on the BUPA website but sadly received the attached email. This surely can't mean all fertility investigations/treatments need to be self-funded as I've researched several clinics that accept insurance. Anyone have any experience of funding through BUPA UK? I'm really feeling the clock ticking at my age and there's only so much we can afford to cover ourselves. I thankfully have an NHS pelvic ultrasound booked in a few weeks and will be paying for some comprehensive bloods after a worrying recent FSH result. So I think the first thing we need is a repeat semen analysis and a consultation with someone with relevant experience in London (secondary fertility issues and some known male factor). Any advice so gratefully received. I'll be calling BUPA tomorrow to speak to someone but just wondered if anyone had any experience in the meantime.

Thanks so much 😊

I asked and got no cover - they wouldn’t even cover investigation into irregular cycles because it’s related to conception.

Thanks so much for your reply. I suspect you're right then! I'm just so confused as to why there are so many clinics/specialists listed on the directory. Will have to look for the most affordable but still decent places then. Thanks again 😊

Hi, BUPA will only cover you if its part of the policy your husband's work has with them. Otherwise they won't cover anything fertility related unfortunately. If you want somewhere affordable you can try ABC IVF I used them for our first try and we were successful in our first round. They have certain criteria (under 39, BMI under 32 and a good ovarian reserve) which is why they are so affordable. We were happy with the service we received. Good luck x

That's so helpful thank you. 😊 I'll look up ABC! I'm 37. Not sure about my ovarian reserve but I'm planning to do Randox Health's female fertility blood test once im on CD3 again as it's s really detailed and includes AMH.
