How long for funding

Hi!
How long did it take from your eligibility and funding to come through? I know every area is different, just trying to get a sense of time frames
Thanks!

I was quoted 56 working days (north west England) but it actually took over 6 months due to clinic processing issue! 😣

My advice... keep chasing it!!

6 months! That must have been so frustrating!

It really does vary hugely OP so the best thing is to ask your own clinic. Some people are sorted within 6 weeks, others take up to a year.

Ours took 4 or 5 months I think, and then it was several more months before we started any kind of treatment.

I know, I have asked but they won't answer me which doesn't fill me with hope!
We've just found out that we can have one private fresh cycle without it affecting our funding so considering whether to do that whilst waiting for funding

We got our letter the following week after the request was put in! That was November last year and I'm Greater Manchester based

I would go back to them and tell them that you are trying to decide whether it's worth having a private fresh cycle and you need some degree of information about waiting lists to make that decision.

They are often just reluctant to get people's hopes up/ commit to anything, but if you communicate that you understand it won't be 100% guaranteed, they should be able to give you a ballpark (as in, whether it's weeks, months, 6+months).

They will know how long it's currently taking them to get patients through the doors.

It's very dependent on the local council for funding too, so I would contact your local MP if you want some more help 🤞

I was referred for an investigative operation in July 2022 to find out if my tubes were blocked, after trying for 2 years without success. I had the operation March 2023 after waiting 8 months and unfortunately had to have my tubes removed. They said there would be no further wait for 2 rounds of NHS funded IVF after the operation if it turned out I needed it, which I did. I obviously had to recover from my surgery and get my head round it all, but started treatment in July/August 2023. I had my BFP in February this year after success within my funded 2 rounds.

Congratulations on your positive! I've managed to speak to the coordinator this week, and she said once we have Amh results, the funding takes couple weeks.

Thank you. Wishing you all the best with your treatment @LilyPoppet1 😊 Ah yes, I had to send off an AMH blood test privately as the NHS didn't fund that particular test. They also wanted both of us to do a blood test to screen for HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis before we could start. There are a few hoops to jump through but sounds like you are almost there.

Yes thats exactly what we did on Monday, but the amh is being done through the NHS, so that's strange? Unless it's the area you live in makes a difference?

Yes it must be different in every area. Even down to which medication they try probably. On my first round I was prescribed Ovaleap but then the second round I was prescribed a combination of Ovaleap and Menopur, and was told Menopur was considerably more expensive. I had much better results using the Menopur. My AMH was very low by the way - 4.0pmol/L - but I still had success. Just in case that's of any reassurance when you get your AMH result.
