5 Failed Fet and losing hope.. any advice?

Hi all,

I just wanted some advice as I’m unsure what the next step should be… if at all. It almost seems silly to keep transfering embryos without changing something and I’m struggling. Im 35 and Here’s a summary of the last 3 years:

• 5 failed Fets: 2 untested and the last 3 tested and pgta euploid (from 2 different egg collections).
• Emma, Alice era done and used pessaries and gels to increase lactobacillus biome.
• clottings bloods all fine.
• have used Lubion, Prostap (letrozole), progesterone pessaries, eostrogen patches and tablets, prednisone, aspirin and clexane for last 3 cycles.
• lining usually reaches about 7.5 and progesterone bloods pre transfer around 100.
•thyroid well controlled.
•hycosy normal and no Pcos and all
other tests normal including NK cells from biopsy in Coventry.

Has anyone been in a similar situation/ recurrent implementation failure and had success by which I mean Not even a hint of a positive test, no chemicals or miscarriages and then suddenly it worked for you? If so what did you change? Did you just keep going? How many attempts did you try?

It’s a really tough rollercoaster so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

thanks xx

Gosh im really sorry that must be very difficult 💔it will happen someday because you're dedicated to it! Have you ever had implantation cuts? It this all with the same clinic?

AnonS · 23/08/2024 11:58

Hi. I'd like to jump on the thread to see what people come back with. I had my 4th FET today and not holding out much hope tbh. I have had many tests and they cant find anything wrong and advise against pgta testing, which I dont mind. I would rather have a little hope than them say all my remaining are not viable, when they could actually stick.

Fluffykins33 · 23/08/2024 13:06

@Clocloxx I’ve had a scratch and paid extra for embryo glue. is cuts something else? It’s all with the same clinic. We are dedicated but it’s so hard to keep going sometimes :( I hear stories about people changing clinics and it suddenly works.

@AnonS you never know! This might be your round. Pgta is worth a shot unless you are having multiples transferred (some clinics won’t transfer multiple euploids)

@Fluffykins33 Ours isn't against multiple, but advised me against it as they are good quality. If this time fails, I am going to ask what tests can be done privately that they will not do.

@Fluffykins33 I'm so sorry - it's exhausting isn't it? It took 4 transfers to get our daughter and we're trying to a sibling but our 3rd FET just failed - all three have failed to implant which concerns me. I've had all the immunology tests done, included clexane and baby aspirin on this round but no luck so far. My lining was a bit crap for this last transfer - I don't think I absorb the oral estrogen very well, so we introduced patches and it went up to 6.5mm a week before the transfer, my clinic normally has a cut-off of 7mm but it was trilaminar so they said they were ok to go ahead. I wonder now if that was the best choice but there we are. I think we will introduce patches from the start on the next try and see if that helps.

I did find this article when I was looking online and it suggests that up to six transfers should be considered even with failures: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/news/2015/december/ivf-couples-six.html

A fresh clinic definitely sounds like a possibility just for a fresh perspective. Do you have more in the freezer?

Sending hugs.

Two thirds of IVF couples will have a baby after six attempts

Couples seeking fertility treatment should view IVF as a multiple cycle process rather than a “single shot”, according to new research. The study, which is published today in The Journal of The American Medical Association, has found that around two t...

@loulamay I think we are lining twins because the exact same thing happened to me! 6.5 one week before but trilaminar. We have no more Frosties left so onto the 3rd egg collection it is. Maybe we will try a few more times before considering surrogacy.

It really the rollercoaster no one wants to ride isn’t it 😅

@loulamay Interesting article. When they give the age brackets, is this the age of the eggs do you think, rather than when they transfer. I had mine all collected at 39, but now I am 41.

loulamay · 28/08/2024 16:55

I think it's definitely age at egg collection - that will have the most bearing on quality. But don't quote me!

AnonS · 30/10/2024 09:43

@Fluffykins33 Hi. I just had my 5th failed FET. Are you going for any further tests?

Fluffykins33 · 31/10/2024 13:14

Hi @@AnonS no more tests left to do. We will try twice more with multiples and if no luck then considering surrogacy. Feel like we are running out of options. Sorry yours failed. It's to tough isn't it :(
