How do you "test your loss" ie a miscarriage ?

Sorry if question is either really silly or a bit graphic but I'm a newbie to IVF and a bit clueless.

When people say they've tested a loss ie a miscarried embryo... how does that work? Because at least for me the miscarriage came out as a bleed over 5-6 days, which probably equated to 25+ pads... surely you don't save them all up and bring them in?!

I am not 100% sure, but I would think it applies to losses during later stages of pregnancy? When you can actually "catch" the embryo coming out?

Also, I am very sorry for your loss and what you are going through <3

If you have a D&C you can test the product - also in some at home losses it may be obvious what the Products of Conception are - in mine it was.

Sorry this has happened to you.

With a D & C you ask the treating doctor to send it for testing.

After I had another lose at home, they told me that I could have saved the tissue and get it tested in a lab. Of course, between all the blood it is really hard to be "fishing" for baby tissue. Also, seeing all that blood it makes it emotionally harder to deal with.
