Hi All - everything i have seen on this forum people have stopped meds at around 12 weeks. But my clinic telling me to stop everthing (1 injection of lubion 2 cyclogest pessaries and 4 oestrogen tabs estradiol ) at what will be just over 9 weeks!
I would like to carry on until 12 but theyre just ignoring me.
I know some people on here have had some in "stock" and carried on with it.
And was tempted to wean myself off? Any thoughts.
Thanks

Did you have a fresh or frozen transfer?

Most clinics will stop progesterone at 8 weeks for a fresh transfer and 12 weeks for a frozen.

For my FET I had cyclogest pessaries 3 x a day, oestrogen tablets 4 a day and 2 oestrogen patches changed every 72 hours. They told me to reduce the progesterone by one pessary every few days from 10 weeks (completely stopped by 11 weeks). The oestrogen tablets and patches to reduce from 12 weeks over a few days. Hope this helps

I would follow your clinic’s advice and if you are really worried about a decision arrange a meeting with your doctor asap? I think it’s amazing to have come so far so I would not take any risks and certainly not carry on taking medication I have been advised to stop. I know some clinics start to wean off stop from 8 weeks and other carry on a little longer, it probably depends on your own situation as well.

There are different time ranges given for when the placenta takes over production of progesterone, but there is research suggesting its as early as 6-8 weeks. Clinics keeping people on meds until 12 weeks are just taking a more precautious approach. I would speak to your clinic if you're concerned

Thanks everyone! Theyve said if carrying on until 12 weeks makes me feel more comfortable then do that! Which is not really a definitive answer seems quite blasé!
Ive had some spotting each day for past 4 or 5 days. Did a clear blue test this morn and it said 2-3 weeks! When im 10! It was showing 5-6 a few weeks back! So im thinking its game over!
Im gutted.
As everything ive read saying means hcg levels are dropping. X

@TenaciousGoat how far along are you? HCG levels peak between 8-11 weeks and then start to drop. Also have a look into the hook effect which can make tests look more negative once your hcg gets to a certain level.

I had spotting for 2 weeks. The pessaries were irritating my cervix so switched to inserting rectally. I am now 17 weeks!

I took it to 12 weeks and paid privately for a progesterone test to check in when I was 11 weeks before coming off, worried it would be low, and it was in the tens of thousands! Placenta was doing its work well, 9 weeks isn't far off 12, some clinics have people stop earlier which I wouldn't have been happy with but you could always get a trst prior to coming off to feel safer ;) congratulations on your pregnancy!
