Testing after transfer

I had a FET 3 days ago so I'm currently 4dp5dt. I'm trying to figure out what to do regarding testing. My official test day is Saturday 3rd August. But obviously in most cases a positive would show before this.
I cant decide whether to start testing early so I at least I am prepared for a negative early. Plus I've only ever seen a positive test once in 4 years of TTC. (Which ended in a MMC) so also in a way even if it's a chemical I'd kind of maybe rather know? Because at least a chemical indicates there's hope of actually conceiving. Maybe. But then there's the possible disappointment if it is a chemical. It's so hard to know what to do for the best! For my fresh cycles I tended to test early and be prepared for the impending negative. This will be my 4th transfer in total.

Good luck, really hope this is the one for you.

I think it’s just such a personal thing. I’ve done both approaches. My first transfer I waited until my OTD. I wanted to just have the hope for the TWW and then find out either way at the end. For my second cycle, I tested on 5dpt. My theory then was that it was so early that if it was negative I would still have hope (but could also start preparing myself for it not working). I’m not sure there’s an ideal way. It’s whatever helps you cope best.

The first time, I tested on 9dp5dt. The second on 7dp5dt. The latter was because I had an event on 9dp and wanted to know with enough time to come to terms with the outcome!

With 7dp5dt, my tests were very light (attached photo. I helpfully used a load of different brands I'd collected TTC as well so you can see the varying results 😂). I think any earlier and I wouldn't have known. Then I would also have spent ages being stressed, holding my pee for more tests and staring at shadows and wondering if they were lines.

I think it comes down to how you would manage if you did test early and get a negative. It would be inconclusive, but then for me personally, I think that would have made me a bit crazy!

Personally, I'm against testing early (for myself). I tested early on several failed cycles, and all it did was increase disappointment. The last time I tested early was during my chemical pregnancy. It just caused more stress and anxiety. In my case, it would have still shown I had a chemical pregnancy on OTD. I didn't gain anything but anxiety testing early. Since then I've done 2 cycles, and didn't test early. First cycle resulted in my DD and second cycle I'm 29 weeks pregnant. So I'm now a bit superstitious that not testing early helps you to relax and get on with your life, and think this helps. Very much though its personal preference, and you need to do what feels right to you.

I have done both ways. Once I waited and it was dark positive and exciting and i told everyone but then it started to fade and ended in miscarriage. Second time, I started testing like a maniac on day 3 so that I am prepared for any disappointment ahead. Do what feels right for you. Ultimately, it would either be a happy outcome or not.... And testing or not testing wont change it.
