I'm 37 and husband 48 so aware we're at the older end of the scale fertility wise. 🥺 15 months into TTC no. 2. These were latest sperm analysis results. Would be really grateful if anyone has any insight as we've only been told they're borderline. I've got a follow up GP appointment on 22nd as I've only had my LH, FSH and oestradiol tested so far and am 8 months into waiting for a TV scan. Is there anything else i should ask to have checked/pay to do privately for myself as long as it's not bonkers money? Thanks so much for reading.

Volume was 1.6ml
Sperms count was between 40 and 42 million
Motility was 26% of spermatoza
Morphology was 23% of sperm showing as normally shaped
Ph was 7.3

Hi, no expert but also suffering with secondary infertility and a bit ahead of you having now done 3 rounds of IVF.
The sperm results actually look reasonable! My other half had some lower scores and was told to take Impryl and did then see quite an improvement.
For yourself, could be worth checking thyroid and vitamin D levels?
I also had a HyCoSy test done (was about £500 privately) but I had it done because I’d previously been told I had a blocked tube so may not be needed for everyone.
my sympathies to you - it’s very frustrating!

A scan isn't crazy money if you want to skip the wait and quickly check your endometrium and ovaries, and rule out polyps and fibroids.

What were your previous blood test results?

The motility level looks low in the semen results, and the volume looks lowish.

Do you already have children? If not, consider asking for a fertility specialist referral to have things moving in the background.

Yes we have a 3 year old so we wouldn't qualify for any NHS funding. I called the GP to check what on earth was happening about my scan referral as I requested one in October last year and still nothing. Very much got the impression it had never even been sent off. Had a bit of a cry about it as tbh time is not on our side but I agree - it's worth the cost to just go private. I've attached my bloods results, which I was just told were normal but not given any further insight. Thanks so much for your reply.

I'm so sorry you're on this journey too. It's so hard isn't it. I'm so grateful every day to have my daughter (not least because it took many years to conceive her) but I still yearn for one more. My husband is on a cocktail of supplements but they do seem to be doing something as results have improved since last SA. Worth giving Impryl a shot though. I'm sure with us part of the problem is not trying enough and both having pretty stressful jobs. When I finally fell pregnant first time around it was during lockdown. Working from home, spending lots of time together and tbh relaxing and enjoying a few cocktails seemed to do it! It's quite hard to replicate those conditions now! I'll definitely ask to have my vitamin D and thyroid checked when I'm back to GP in a few days.

I wish you all the very best and sending you so much baby dust. X

Hey! I can't remember exactly what cycle day but I was definitely on my period and they're between 4-5 days so yes, most likely was day 2 or 3 I think.
