Reduction in AMH after 1 cycle of IVF

I have PCOS and before IVF, my AMH level was 64.8, and now after one stims round of IVF (no transfer) my AMH has gone down to 39.3. Is this normal?

First blood test was done on CD2 and second test on CD1.

This happened to me! My AMH was 4.8 before starting IVF and I got it retested the first cycle after my failed IVF and it had dropped to 1.7 which is over 50% drop in a few months. The doctor couldn’t understand it. I thought it must be the ivf drugs but was told that’s impossible! Sorry this has happened to you, but in a way reassuring to finally hear about someone else experiencing similar! Sounds like your levels are super high at least.

@AnnieStar12 oh no I'm sorry you had the same thing. I was reading online that AMH isn't always an accurate reflection of ovarian reserve, it's better to look at the AFC. But I wasn't warned my AMH might drop so much, so I was quite shocked.

I have a scan on Wednesday for my FET, and I will ask my specialist about it then. I'll let you know what she says.

@Lcm11 Had the opposite that my AMH was retested after a poor response to stims in first cycle, and my AMH had gone up. I found AMH didn't reflect at all my response to stims / number of eggs collected.

@AnnieStar12 my specialist said AMH levels fluctuate 10-15% between tests due to lab processing, time of cycle, natural changes etc. She scanned my ovaries and said I still have lots of follicles (PCOS) so wasn't concerned about the drop. Do you have any scans coming up?

@2mumlife thanks that confirms what my research was saying - AMH isn't always an accurate marker of success.

Similar to this, my AMH has increased as well as decreased which shouldn't be possible so I don't think it is always accurate
